Would you care to tell us your secret? We ought to know it as we are your friends, said the turtle and the fish.
Whoa! Ha! Ha! Ha! then it will no longer be a secret! the tadpole answered.
Everyday the tadpole grew bigger and bigger, until one day a pair of short legs grew out of his sides. Then,
another pair of long leaping legs put out of his body. A month later, the turtle and the fish saw a spotted green frog on an
old log.
Hello! croaked the frog.
Who is that fellow? asked the turtle.
He seems to know us, said the fish.
Dont you remember your little friend, the tadpole? asked the stranger.
Thats who you are? So that is your secret! You were a tadpole. But now you are a frog, said the fish.
I am glad you recognized me. I had a rough time developing my legs. But now I am a full grown frog at last,
answered the former tadpole.
Now we can enjoy swimming again together, replied the turtle happily.
