In 5th Grade

Reading:/Social Studies/ Writing: We are diving into poetry next week and looking
at it in a few different ways. We will first be looking to understand the meaning of
poems and the complex language associated with it. A big focus on complex
language will be figurative language and literary devices. We will also be looking at
a historical aspect as we read poems by Langston Hughes. Students will be
completing a Webquest and learning all the different ways that writers compose
their writing and they will be working on publishing their own poems.
Math: We have finished our study of decimals. We have been reviewing adding,
subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals this week. We will continue the
review on Tuesday and then students will take their Unit Test on Wednesday,
February 22nd. Students have resources on the Weebly and they should also be
using xtramath and TenMarks nightly.
Science Students will finish their study of Weather next week and begin their
review for the Unit Test. The unit test will be Monday, February 27th. Again, there
are resources on our Weebly for students to refer to and practice their vocabulary.
