Very often the provision of appropriate IT is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for improving
the business. Other interventions (organisation and culture change, process re-design etc) are usually
required and are not necessarily in the remit of the CIO. In such situations, what approaches can the CIO
take to ensuring that the real benefits of investment in digital technologies are achieved?

And how can IT decision makers add value to the business, turning technology into the driving force

In her presentation, Ilona will unveil the mystery of Digital success and share some of the quick business
wins for established organisations leveraging digital.
All too often, when considering information technology, the focus of senior management is on
information technology that has a big and visible impact on end users and customers, such as BYOD,
Cloud and Digital Transformation; almost as if to demonstrate, Hey, were really improving our IT! Such
projects also normally need to demonstrate an immediate, positive financial return, such as reduced
support costs through self-service solutions.
Information Security is often seen as a cost; something that slows activity and gets in the way of change.
But unless you secure your data properly and consider security (and privacy) from the start, then any of
these aspirations for change have the potential to cause huge damage to your business.
In his presentation, Tim Burnett will discuss how, whilst its great to deploy sexy IT in a changing
landscape, it is important to consider the emerging threats and ensure that information security and
personal data privacy are addressed.
