The word jacket comes from the French word jaquette. The
term comes from the Middle French noun jaquet, which
refers to a small or lightweight tunic. In Modern French,
jaquette is synonymous with jacket. Speakers of American
English sometimes informally use the words jacket and coat
interchangeably.

Jacket is a basic item of outerwear worn by men, women & children alike. The
distinguishing features between individual designs for example length, width, silhouette,
cut and details are determined by the style and purpose.

Traditionally, a blazer meant a jacket of a solid color (usually navy or
black) with gold or silver metal buttons, patch pockets and a softer
construction. You can wear it with jeans, or any pants.
These are suit jackets, meant to be worn with matching pants, for
formal occasions.
BELL BOY JACKETS

ANORAK JACKETS
anorak is a type of jacket with a hood,
often lined with fur or faux fur. The
hood protects the face from freezing
temperatures and wind. The Caribou
Inuit invented this kind of garment,
originally made from caribou or seal
skin, for hunting and kayaking in the
frigid Arctic. Some Inuit anoraks
require regular coating with fish oil to
retain their water resistance.
SAFARI JACKETS

The style was long popular for boys' jackets and suits, and is still used in some
(primarily military and police) uniforms
It was named either after the Duke of Norfolk or after the county of Norfolk and
was made fashionable after the 1860s in the sporting circle of the Prince of
Wales, later Edward VII, whose country residence was Sandringham House in
Norfolk.
MAKINAW JACKETS
Mackinaw cloth is a heavy dense water-repellent woolen cloth,
similar to Melton cloth. It was used to make a short coat of the same
name, sometimes with a doubled shoulder. These jackets have their
origins on the Canadian frontier and were later made famous by
American loggers in the upper Midwest during the mid-19th century
logging boom.
