Get Their Attention! (5 minutes)

Materials: Spinner

INTRODUCE yourself & the kids by saying:

Hows everyone doing today? Who did something fun this weekend? Well,
were going to have tons of fun today on the game show Spin It to Win It!

Lets take turns spinning this spinner. If the spinner points at you, tell everyone
your name and what you want to do when you grow up!

Need to Know: INTRODUCE kids to what we are learning today:

As I Grow, God Makes
Me Wise! As we get older, God makes us grow taller and stronger. As we read our Bibles
and pray, God grows us to be wiser.

Being wise means that we know what God says to do and we do it!
Bible Story:
Jesus at the Temple Thats what we need to know today: As I Grow, God Makes Me Wise!

Materials: Bible Story Page, Bible Story Twitter Cards (2 sets)
Spinner
Bible Story Page READ the Bible Story Page to the group. Tell kids to listen carefully so they can win the
next game we play.
Bible Story Twitter
Cards (2 sets)
DIVIDE group into two teams. GIVE each team a set of Bible Story Twitter Cards.
Hand Sanitizer
ASK kids if they know what Twitter is.
Paper Plates EXPLAIN that it is a website where people can post what they are saying and
Toothpicks doing.
Marshmallows Teams will race to assemble the Bible Story Twitter Cards in the order they
think the story goes.
Picture Sheets
The first team to assemble them is the winner! (See correct order on left.)
Wipes
Filler Guide After the story, ASK:

1. Where was Jesus when his family found him? (At the Temple/Church)
Twitter Answers: 2. What was Jesus doing with the Temple leaders? (Talking to them about
@CousinLarry19 God) Talking to the Temple leaders showed that Jesus was wise and that
@_GrandmaBetty_ God was making Him wiser.

@Temple_Leader_ ASK kids to close their eyes & bow their heads. Model prayer for kids by PRAYING:

Heavenly Father, we want to grow wiser like Jesus. As we come to church, read
our Bibles, pray, and learn more about you, help us become wiser! We love
you. Amen

Application Activity Application Activity (7 min)

Summary:
Kids will make images
using toothpicks and
marshmallows as they
learn how to grow and
become wiser!
Materials: Hand Sanitizer, Paper Plates, Toothpicks, Marshmallows, Picture Sheets, Wipes
1. Sanitize kids hands.
2. Give each child a paper plate, ABOUT 10 toothpicks, and ABOUT 15
marshmallows.
3. Choose one Picture Sheet and place it in the middle of the circle. Allow kids
to make a matching image on their paper plates using toothpicks and
marshmallows.
4. After kids finish, ask the questions on the back of the Picture Sheet.

5. Choose another Picture Sheet and allow kids to break apart their previous
creation to make the new one. Continue until all the Picture Sheets have
been used.

6. Throw away paper plates and toothpicks.

7. Allow kids to eat their marshmallows. While they are eating, SAY:

There are so many ways we can grow every day. As we grow, God will

Me Wise!

AFTER kids finish eating their marshmallows, give them each a wipe to clean their
hands.
