ABSTRACT

The patient medication distribution system will produce a list of medicine to be taken by
the patients when admitted in the hospitals according to their respective bed number.
This medication distribution system is designed from a combination of circuit blocks
which is microcontroller, RFID reader and central display. The system is expected to
produce the list of medicines required when a patient is admitted to hospital. Studies
show that, there are cases where medicines are wrongly prescribed and many problems
arise due to the mistake. Today, the existing technology is manipulated to distribute
medicines so quickly and carefully, that medicine prescription error will occur in
hospitals among the patients. This medication distribution system is tested using certain
data of medicines so that the person handling the medication does not get confused.
The aim of the overall system is to access the medication details of a patient through
RFID technology. For this purpose, the patient is given RFID tag when they are
admitted to hospital. This tag contains an integrated circuit that is used for storing,
processing information through modulating and demodulating of the radio frequency
that is being transmitted. Thus, the data stored in tag. This proposed system simplifies
the process by giving the patient an RFID tag according to the bed number containing
the medication details. Once the nurse places the tag onto the RFID reader, it reads the
data and thus, it displays the medication details of the patient.
