Union) during the first 15 years of the Cold War? How did individual events cause
continuity and/or change within that relationship?

YOUR ASSIGNMENT: Answer the questions below for your assigned event by
completing your part of the chart on the Google docs file by 11:59 PM
THURSDAY, March 2. 2017. You do not need to write in complete sentences, but
you do need to be fairly specific. (Imagine that if you were to present this to the
class, it would take 2-3 minutes.)

Questions to research:
1. Identify the eventwhat happened?
2. Explain how this event affected the relationship between the US and the USSRi.e., how it related to the
Cold War.
3. Include a visual (photograph, political cartoon, diagram, or hand-drawn representation [which you scan
online]) that helps to explain #1 and/or #2 above.
a. A word about the visual: Showing a map of Israel would not be an adequate representation for the
creation of Israel. Instead, your visual should emphasize how/why the creation of Israel affected
US-Soviet relations. Similarly, a photo of Nikita Khrushchev at a podium delivering a speech would
not adequately represent the significance of his secret speech or his idea of peaceful coexistence.
