LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN THE CURRICULUM

(EPISODE 4)

DATE OF OBSERVATION: _______________________________________________

OBSERVATION / INTERVIEW GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. In the observation that we made in Maam Buans class, the new knowledge
that I have observed as presented and discussed during the lesson is the Fundamental
communication principles. It contains the product, place, price, promotion and online

marketing. The indicators that show that the new knowledge has been already
understood by the students are that they are able to finish their activity after the lesson
is discussed. Also, Maam Buan knows if the students really did learn by utilizing an

assessment. By giving the students an activity, where they instructed to do a short

presentation that show the fundamental communication principles. The students applied
the learning that they have acquired by evaluating their presentation. While the students
show their presentation I observed that they acquired the new lesson. I therefore
conclude that the students really did absorb the knowledge that Maam Buan have
implemented throughout the learning progress . The presentation of the students shows
specific understandings and capabilities that they were able to demonstrate consistently
if they have met the related learning objective . Their supervisor, Maam Buan, highlights

the importance of the teachers role in supporting students learning . It also shows on
how the nature of teaching needs to change to ensure students are able to take
more responsibility for their learning as they progress from curriculum .

2. In the one of the class of Maam Buan that we observed, the instance that I have
observed a connection to the past lesson is when Maam Buan used the different way of
recalling the previous lesson. The technique that Maam Buan used is the association of
the past lesson and the present lesson by giving vague examples of the topic and the
sub-topics of the lesson. Question and Answer is the technique that I have seen that is
being used by their supervisor. She gives examples of the previous lesson and then she
asked her students some guide questions that would lead to their lesson that day. The
students are expected to answer the questions because the answers are being guided
by the past lesson and lead to their lesson for that day.

3. Base on my observation, the students used a step-by-step method for solving

problems by thinking on how they were able to present a presentation that will show
their understanding in their lesson. This way, the higher order of thinking will help them

solve problems faster and easier. Maam Buan also encouraged her students to use
alternative methods to solve their problem as well as offer them different methods or
ideas on how they will be able to do their presentation . The students were free to ask
questions without any negative reactions from their peers or their teacher. Therefore this
makes the students feel free to be creative for their presentation . She also helps
students understand what higher-order thinking by explains it to them and why they
need it while they are doing their activity. Help them understand their own strengths and

challenges. By doing this Maam Buan is teaching them to connect what they already

know with what they are learning. This way of thinking will help students learn to make
connections whenever it is possible, which will help them gain even more
understanding. As a future educator, we need to teach students to connect what have
they learned in the class and apply it to the real life problems or situations. You can do
this by instructing them to do some short story or presentation and connect it to the real
life situations. This will prepare your students in the future.

4. The module is used as a scholarly work in the class of Maam Buan where we
observed. The module is given to them by the Department of Education. This were the
order of the higher office of the Department of Education.
MY ANALYSIS:
1. In order for me to ensure the development of my students with the new
knowledge, I will do the different processes of developing knowledge by being
able to adjust in different situations to achieve the various needs and
characteristics of the students. Every student has different way of learning, there
are students who wonder about all sorts of things or sometimes think often about
things way beyond, and therefore we should know how to handle properly the
class. We should know how their wants will address the lesson effectively to the
class. As a future educator, it is important that the teacher know the different
learning styles of every student for us to be able to use every equipment and
technology needed for our lesson or topic. Doing things for the first time acquires
some new knowledge never seen before there are amount of innovations to
survive in nature the intellectual development has always been a central part of
our culture. Technology is helping us educators to provide students knowledge
As the way of teaching is changes at a fast pace and making it accessible to
learners, the next generation educators is also in the pace of changing in order
for them to prepare themselves in the future . In a fast changing world like ours, it
is preferable for us to use technology in the classroom because it offers the
chance to increase student interest and when they see things new to them. It is
also applicable in providing them new knowledge and it can establish efficiency
of student administration in an enjoyable, flexible learning environment that
embraces the diversity of students different learning styles.

2. Methodology: I will use the question and answer methodology. It will enhance
their HOTS by thinking critically to think the correct answer for my questions. This
questions will lead my students to the main topic. After that, I will explain the
main topic to them. Then, I will ask them if there are parts of the lesson is unclear
to them so that I can explain it in other way.
Instructional Material: I think I will use a power point presentation so that I can
present some video and explain my topic and show some picture that is
connected to the lesson. This will help them develop their HOTS because they
are using two or more senses. And we all know that if more senses is used then
the possibility of learning is high.
Activity: I will let my students to group themselves into 5 group and let them do a
short dramatization. I would also instruct them make their scenarios in a real life
situations or real life happenings but the scenario is still connected to the topic.
This will enhance their HOTS by thinking of different scenarios or real life
problems and find a solution for it which might happen in their future.
3. Technology is in the grasp of our hands. Therefore technology is one way to be
informed of everything. Internet is a source of information. And internet is easy to
use, updated and sometimes reliable. This will help me in my lessons or topics.
But of course we should use the library to make sure that the information is
correct and reliable. Technology is one way to make sure that information is
within my reach.

MY REFLECTIONS:
1. I can use the discussion method. Through discussion method, I can link the past
and the present by discussing the past lesson first as a review then link this past
lesson to the present topic. I can also tell some story that is connected to topic.
After the discussion of the present topic, I can link the present topic to the future
topic by introducing it to the class or just giving them clues about the next topic.
This will give them curiosity on what will be the next lesson. And to make it
valuable, I will connect my lesson to real life situations or my own experiences in
a humorous way. This will be valuable for them because its funny yet useful.
2. For me, the most important kind of Higher Thinking Order Skills for me is
Problem Solving skills because successful problem solving involves the process
of coordinating previous knowledge and experience to develop a solution to a
problem. Intuition may also be involved in the thinking process . Thus, in the
problem solving process, students may make conjectures and try many different
ways to find a solution to the given problem . As a future educator, I should note
that any method, which can be properly used to solve a problem, is a correct
method. Because every student has their own creative mind and have their own
ways on finding solutions to any problems.

3. I can share to them that among thinking skills, it is inevitable that some are more
familiar, widely recognized, and even taught; others are less familiar and are
rarely addressed in education. For example, the symbolic skills of reading and

writing receive considerable attention. Categorizing and seeking causes and

effects are two of the most familiar thinking skills . It is not uncommon to focus

students' attention on causes or categories . But often the activities have more to
do with memorizing the answers suggested by the text than engaging students in
their own explorations. At least classificatory, causal, and other relationships

receive some attention. Scholarly work is peer-reviewed, written by an authority

on the subject at hand, or is produced by a reputable association - and in many
cases, all of the above. Books and journal articles should include an author,
information about the author, and be published by a known journal, association,
or corporation. If there is no author listed, there is a good chance that the

resource is not considered scholarly. Scholarly work is most often available

through the library, rather the exercised in the process of reading the contents on
an article before referring to them in your own work . The process of an article
undergoing a peer-review is meant to promote the validity and reliability of the
content. However, not all scholars who perform peer-reviews are rigorous in their
analysis of another scholar's work, therefore proceed with an open and analytical
mind by reviewing the methods used to conduct a study in journal article and
verify those findings with those of other researchers . It is common to find articles
with different results on a given topic, but there should be sound logic, a
persuasive argument, and most importantly reliable research methods to support
a scholar's findings.
