-Short O: -ox, -ob, -op, -ot, -og, -od
-Short U: -ud, -ug, -un, -us (1 word), -ub, -up, -ut, -um

Sample *BLENDING: Help students blend the onset and rime by using
Activities the cards as a visual (ex: Prompt students, What does the
r sound like? Now what does the chunk at sound like? Put these word parts
together.)
*SEGMENTING: Help students segment or break words apart using the onset and
rime cards as a visual (ex: Start with the onset and rime together. Then prompt
students, How can we break this word apart if we didnt know it right away?)
*MAKING WORDS: Have the onsets on one side and the rimes on another side of
a table or in a pocket chart. Then the students make words by putting the
correct onset with the correct rime. These words can be recorded, remade with
magnetic letters on cookie sheets, written in shaving cream on desks, etc.
*WORD HUNT: Hunt for words with the same rime in books, around the
classroom, at home, etc.
*SORT: Using two or more different rimes, make words and then sort them
accordingly (ex: sort at and an words).
