Dear Selection Committee:

It is my pleasure to be writing this letter in support of Emma Gaffney to join your

teaching team. I have known Emma for three years. She is a reflective teacher with a
warm, accepting, inviting demeanor and an engaging personality. She handles
pressure well and contributes positively to a team environment, and I highly
recommend her as a member of your teaching staff.

As a student in my elementary science courses Emma remained calm and positive

when other pre-service teachers were stressed and frustrated. When faced with a
challenging assignment she actively listens, processes the given information, asks
clarifying questions and then accomplishes the task. This quality, along with her
inviting and engaging personality will be an asset when working with parents and
adjusting to new mandates and directives implemented in the school.

Emma possesses strong science content knowledge, has a good understanding of the
NGSS, and develops science lessons that will appeal to her students while
addressing the science standards. In addition, she is flexible willing and able to
make adjustments to her lessons in order to meet the needs of her students or
changing class schedules.
College of Emma is a steady, hard worker who people gravitate to. Furthermore, she is a quiet
Education but influential leader who remains calm and optimistic even when those around her
are frantic and pessimistic. She is flexible, a quick learner, and a teacher who
Department of
Teacher students and parents will feel comfortable around; she will be a great asset to your
Education team. Please contact me at benne455@msu.edu if you have any further questions.
