page written summary of it. The summary should be in the form of a double-spaced
word
processor document. Use a 12-point font (preferably Times or Times Roman) and 1-
inch
margins. The summary should include the name, date, and location of the concert
along with a
description of the individual pieces. Include the name of the composer and the title
of each
composition. Descriptions should address a) instrumentation, b) texture
(homophonic,
contrapuntal etc.), c) pitch content (diatonic, non-diatonic etc.), d) rhythm
(measured,
unmeasured, irregular etc.), e) style (minimal, impressionistic, avant garde etc.), f)
form, and
g) any other significant structural features (i.e., those attributes that set the piece
apart). Any
aspect of the performance may be discussed, including audience reception and the
unique
attributes of each piece, but personal assessments should be limited to the
effectiveness of the
performance and the success of the composition within its own stylistic boundaries.
Try to
describe the piece in enough detail that the reader can imagine what it sounds like
and please
remain as objective as possible. The following criteria will be used to assign a
grade:
