TPB Bank PLC seeks to appoint dedicated, self-motivated and highly organized Operation
Risk Manager (1 position) to join the Risk Management and Compliance team. The work
station is Dar es Salaam.

P OSI TI ON OBJECTI VE

Assist the Senior Manager Operational Risk in directing and overseeing bank
wide day-to-day management of operational risks as well as other risks from
end-to-end basis including ensuring full compliance of regulatory thresholds.

K EY R ESP ONSI BI LI TI ES

(i) Work as a team to drive and support the identification, monitoring,

controlling and tracking of operational, market, strategic, liquidity and
compliance risks on a daily basis and a source of reference within the bank
in facilitating and promoting the understanding of all Risks.
(ii) Ensure that policies are implemented effectively within the bank; new
regulations are properly communicated, and provide quality assurance on
 the design of the control measures and monitoring plans. Coordinate,
analyze and consolidate various risk and loss reporting to the Management
and Executive Committee.
(iii) Ensure adherence to the risk management framework in identifying,
controlling, monitoring and reporting of risks.
(iv) Ensure sufficient actions are undertaken to mitigate, reduce or contain the
identified risks. Undertake and / or coordinate periodic monitoring (self-
assessment) activities to all areas of operations, escalating issues to
Senior Manager - Operational Risk
(v) Ensure sufficient actions are undertaken by directorates and branches to
comply with all key regulations, compliance and internal standards.
(vi) Assist the head of directorates and Branch Managers in preparing Risk
Profile and other relevant reports for the Risk Management Committee
and ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

(vii) Assist Senior Manager - Operational Risk to ensure appropriate internal

controls and procedures for money laundering prevention are in place and
functioning as intended. This includes conducting investigation on financial
crime risks.
(viii) Assist Senior Manager - Operational Risk to review quality of controls,
including validation of Key Risk Indicators as part of the second line of
defense.
(ix) Assist Departments, branches and other business units in making risk
assessment and generate reports.
(x) Update and Manage Risk Register of the Bank.
(xi) To comply with Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and the Code of
Conduct.
(xii) To be alert at all times to unusual or possibly suspicious customer activity,
and report promptly any such activity to the Senior Manager - Operational
Risk
(xiii) To assist the Senior Manager Operational Risk in tracking status of
policies and procedures reviewed bank wide.
(xiv) To assist the Senior Manager Operational Risk to conduct stress tests
 on all aspects i.e. liquidity, credit, market and operational risks.
(xv) To advise senior management and other directorates within the bank on
various regulations and banking best practice.
(xvi) To participate in branch management audits and ensure audit findings
are rectified in time.
(xvii) To assist the Senior Manager Operational risk in running of the
monthly Risk Management Committee.
(xviii) To assist the Senior Manager Operational Risk in drafting
correspondences to various regulators.
(xix) Any other duties as may assigned by superior.

EXP ER I ENCE AND K NOW LEDGE AND SK I LLS R EQUI R ED

Education:
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Banking,Statistics, Finance,
Accounting or any related discipline

Ex perience:
5 years banking experience of which 3 years should be in branch operations and 2
years in Risk management and compliance.

Sk ills and attributes

(i) Strong skills in report writing.
(ii) Prioritize tasks and organization.
(iii) Good presentation skills.
(IV) Excellent command of Excel and Word Processing.
