More about this course...

Predictive and Cognitive Analytics is seen to be frustratingly black box with the end user
having little idea what a model is sensitive to, how or why it was created. The process involved
in creating models has long been shrouded in mystery; a status quo which this workshop aims
to dispel.

over the duration of this course, you will be taken through the process of creating a Developing
Predictive and Cognitive Analytics, breaking the process down into easy to understand, bite
size chunks with the application of the facilitators Methodology.

By the end of the workshop you will have an appreciation for how Predictive and Cognitive
Analytics are produced to able to effectively participate, or lead in your creation.

In just 3 days, you will...

Understand Predictive Analytics and be able to communicate data and your data
manipulation ideas in a commonly understood manner.
Analyse using summary statistics and be able to apply techniques to describe data using
Palisade Statools.
Create your first usable models with Linear and Logistic Regression using Palisade
StatTools.
Collaborate in making sense of your subjective judgment using probability, likelihood and
decision trees using Palisade PrecisionTree.
Design Bayesian network models applying techniques to create Causes and
Consequence models using Norsys Netica.

How the course will be taught...

The workshop is delivered in modules of one hour where the instructor will explain with the aid
of practical demonstration then allow the class time to imitate on their terminals. Each
Presentation Session will be followed by a one hour practice and problem solving session, short
break and before moving onto the next concept.

The techniques used in these workshops are known as Defense Instructional Techniques and
is a technique for extremely high intensity training with good retention of the concepts trained.
The pace of this workshop is extremely fast, high intensity and in places quite pressured.

Free Exhaustive Jube.io Licence worth $800

Exhaustive Jube.io is a software utility used extensively at Jube.io for the creation of simple
and explainable models based on either Logistic or Linear Regression. Using a proven manual
methodology, it automates this methodology from data preparation through to activation of
the model. The software entirely automates the role of a Data Analyst, where that Data
Analyst predominantly uses Logistic or Linear Regression, placing modelling control firmly in
the hands of the business user. An Exhaustive Jube.io Licence is priced at $800 per user but is
free for participants of this course (licence key provided after course completion).

Pre-Course Requirements

Participants will need to install Amazon Workspaces Client in advance of the course.

This programme works on a PC or Mac and will allow you to gain access to your personal
windows 7 virtual machine which will include all software and examples to assure you gain
maximum benefit from the course.

Abstraction and Transformations

Statistics underpin predictive analytics, however, the real power is the shaping and
moulding of data for a given problem domain to create datasets that are more enriched
and meaningful and thus lead to better predictive analytics models, measured by better
predictive or classification accuracy:

Linear Regression
Linear Regression is an approach to modelling a relationship between variables and a
continuous value. Linear Regression can form a simple yet extremely powerful form of
predictive analytics:
Relationship Estimation
Correlation Analysis
Stepwise Correlation
Just In Time Correlation
Line Fitting and Extrapolation

Day 2: Nonlinear Techniques

The second day of the workshop will focus more predictive analytics using more advanced
techniques and machine learning. Day two is orientated around classification and in
addition to quasi linear techniques, in the form of Logistic Regression. brings to bear
nonlinear classification techniques such as Decision Trees and Bayesian Networks.

Logistic Regression
Logistic Regression is extremely similar to Linear Regression except for it is intended to
model yes \ no, rather binary, type problems and in this regard is useful for classification
and behavioural analytics:
Behavioural Analytics
Profile Deviation Abstraction
Binary Regression \ Classification
Sampling
Categorical Data Pivoting
Logistic Regression Output
Stepwise Logistic Regression
Visualisation of Logistic Regression
Logistic Regression Deployment
Probability Function

Case Study: Logistic Regression

Probability, Product and Decision Trees

While not a predictive analytics technique per-se, Decision Trees are useful to model
events that must take place to achieve a particular outcome based on probability product.
In this course Decision Trees provide a useful primer to the Bayesian Probability
techniques taught furthermore, by introducing C5 Decision Trees, the concept of Entropy,
rather Maximum Entropy, can be introduced as a means to separate classes (used more

Day 3: Automated Model Search & Selection

The final day of the workshop will focus on using computation power to automate model
search and selection. Upon resting upon an optimal model stochastic \ Monte Carlo
techniques will be used to obtain understanding of the likely performance of the model in
product as well as identify optimal and risk scenarios.

Neural Networks with Neurosolutions

Neural Networks are an extremely accurate, albeit complex and internally unexplainable,
means of creating predictive analytics models. Neural Networks work just as well for
classification as they do numeric prediction, while also providing a means to cluster data
into hitherto unknown, yet related groups:

course so far and observe the outputs.

Introduction to Infinity
Notwithstanding the power of the Neural Networks and their ability to create extremely
accurate models with hundreds, if not thousands, of independent variables, less is often
more given the most appropriate neural network topology and independent variable
combinations. Neurosolutions Infinity is a means to automate the trial and error involved
in building Neural Networks by automatically creating an extremely accurate neural
network with topology and independent variable combinations are as simple as can
possibly be:
