Reaction paper on Philippine Agenda Gutom

In the Philippines, Hunger is a reality an estimated 3.4 million Filipinos have

experienced. Masbate is one of the countrys poorest provinces, hunger affects the most
vulnerable residents. Philippine Agenda encounters children who are almost just skin
and bones due to lack of nutrition. In Zamboanga del norte, the sweltering heat has
made the land acidic and killed the harvests in the ground absence of food above
ground. Families are forced to eat the dried roots of trees. Even in the midst of Metro
Manila, the countrys capital hunger and malnutrition abound. A pregnant woman shot in
tondo substitution coffee because of a lack of money for food, making her unborn child
severally under weight.

After watching philippine Agenda Gutom, I was really touched and guilty upon learning
the true status of our country, i have realized how lucky I am not to experience the real
poverty and hardships that my fellowmen was going through right now. I know that there
are really poor people living in our country some of them have been that way while
others chose to be that way because they were not able to give more importance to
education. However, i was not much aware that there are actually more people who live
in misery than people who live in wealth and great comfort thats why, honestly speaking
I am pleased with this episodes that have watched. On the other hand, i believe that
one of the causes of that problem is the lack of holistic population management
program.
I my self not to blame them much i believe that is the government has a lack of see
them, and give them more importance because if our government take an action they
might be only few of poor in this country. I dont expect for our country to go into the
extreme of legalizing abortion. Responsible parenthood, total understanding of having a
family that can be sustained in a decent living condition is all that matters. If our
population growing at 2.3 - 2.5 per cent per year is not basically addressed, all the
problems on education, environment, hunger and poverty, I and so many others will not
be solved. Every year , we are already importing rice unlike about over two decades
ago when we have export on this basic commodity. The pressure of growing population
over taxed all to countrys resources, and based, water based, physical as well as social
and political infrastructures. If you are factor in corruption and other socio-cultural
factors such as lack of discipline, gambling, the problems will be more complicated.
Economics can help to solve these problem by giving them an opportunity to discuss by
the government what are those economic principle they might learn. That economic
principle can do them to become even aware on what is the best thing to do, to
minimized of being hunger in every Filipinos who are suffering of being poor.
As a student or even a normal citizen in this country we are living in. We can help to
minimize or to solve these problem i believe by being responsible especially by
choosing our leaders. It must be consider that he or she is Honest, Efficient, and there
is Dedication in to his or her people. Let us just look on our Asian neighbors as an
example - Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. What have they done as a society that
we have not? What their leaders have done and our leaders did not? Let us all think
about it. More importantly, let us all be responsible voters because the change that we
are all clamoring for and the fate of the next generations lies in our own hands!
