INTRODUCTION:
What is Flow Meter?
A flow meter is a device used to measure the flow rate or quantity of a gas or liquid moving
through a pipe. Flow measurement applications are very diverse and each situation has its own
constraints and engineering requirements. Flow meters are referred to by many names, such
as flow gauge, flow indicator, liquid meter, etc. depending on the particular industry; however,
the function, to measure flow, remains the same.

EQUIPMENT LIST:
The equipment used in this lab is Flow Meter.
S/No. Equipment Name Operation
1. Water Tank To store water.
2. Pump To circulate water.
3. Pressure Voltage Converter To convert pressure to voltage.
4. Valve To regulate water.
5. Temperature Sensor To measure temperature.
6. Flow Meter To convert flow rate to voltage.
7. Power Amplifier To increase voltage.
8. Controller To control different parameters.
9. Power Supply To provide voltage to the components.

AUTOMATION CONTROL

PROCEDURE:
How to setup flow meter:
Connect all negative terminals (15 volt).
Connect all positive terminals (+15 volt).
Now set green dot at top in the inlet of water tank (for filling from top).
Keep input voltage at 100% (10 volt).
Set outlet of water tank at red dot (block outflow).
Keep input voltage of pump at 100% (10 volt).
Required milliliters of water at water tank is taken as
600 ml.
Now press start button and stopwatch at the same
time.
Keep it start till water level reaches 600 ml.
Press start button again to stop the flow meter.
Record the time taken by filling up to 600 ml.

READINGS:
Reading No. 1 Reading No. 2
Input Voltage 10 volt Input Voltage 10 volt
Voltage of Pump 10 volt Voltage of Pump 8 volt
Output Flow Block Output Flow Block
Filling of Tank Top Filling of Tank Top
Required Volume 600 ml Required Volume 600 ml
Recorded Time 50.34 sec Recorded Time 81.56 sec
600/50.34 = 11.91 600/81.56 = 7.35
Flow Rate Flow Rate

Output Voltage 7 volt Output Voltage 2.8 volt
Gain 7/10 = 0.70 Gain 2.8/8 = 0.35
Important Points:
Input Voltage is controlled by Potentiometer.
Time is recorded by stop watch.
Flow Rate = Volume/Time
Output Voltage is calculated by MultiMeter.
Gain = Output Voltage/Input Voltage

CONCLUSION:
By performing the lab, it is concluded that flow meter plays an important role in providing a
controlled environment for a process to achieve high accuracy and precision. It provides
different parameters.
