11 Operating System Updater Readme ============


Thank you for purchasing the Yamaha MOXF6/MOXF8 Music Production Synthesizer.
This Readme file contains important information about the MOXF6/MOXF8 V1.11 Oper
ating System update and the updating process. Please read this document carefull
y before updating your MOXF6/MOXF8.

NOTICE:
- This updater is only for the MOXF6/MOXF8.
- This updater is to be used at the user's own risk.
- All User data (User Voices, Performances, Song and so on) will be initialized
by this updater. Please make sure that you have saved all User data to a USB fla
sh memory before performing this update.
- The unit may become inoperable if the electrical supply is interrupted while r
unning the updater (by disconnecting the AC cord, etc.). If this happens, run th
e updater again from the first step.
- If the unit does not function after running the updater, please contact your n
earest Yamaha service center.

MOXF6/MOXF8 with firmware versions earlier than V1.11

How to check the version of your MOXF6/MOXF8


1. Press the [UTILITY] button, and then press the [JOB] button.
2. The following message appears in the second line from the bottom of the displ
ay:

Boot: V*.** / Firm: V*.**
-------------------------------------
The unit's version is indicated by "Firm: V*.**".

Updating Procedure
NOTICE:
All User data (User Voices, Performances, Song and so on) will be initializ
ed by this updater. Please make sure that you save all User data to a USB flash
memory before performing this update.
When you need to backup the data written in the Flash Memory Expansion Module, s
et the Type to "All" and unmark the "with sample" check box in the File mode. Mo
reover, when you load backup data, set the Type to "All" and unmark the "with sa
mple" check box in the File mode.
After you've completed the update and reboot the MOXF, the message "New Flash Me
mory Module, Please load waveform data" will be displayed. Load the backup data
(the message disappears).
Required Items
- One USB flash memory of over 64MB capacity formatted on the MOXF6/MOXF8
1. After downloading, copy the uncompressed following files to a USB flash memor
y. No other files should be present on the USB flash memory.

2. Power off the MOXF6/MOXF8.
3. Connect the USB flash memory prepared in step 1 to the USB [TO DEVICE] termin
al of the MOXF6/MOXF8. Hold down the [LEVEL] meter button, then power on the MOX
F6/MOXF8.
4. After the message "Update MOXF 6/8. Press [REC]" appears, press [REC].
The updater will begin with the "Checking File," "PROG Erasing," and "PROG Writi
ng **%" messages.
When the "Completed. Reboot MOXF 6/8" message appears, turn off the MOXF6/MOXF8
and remove the USB flash memory.
NOTICE:
DO NOT power off or remove the USB flash memory from the MOXF6/MOXF8 until the "
Completed" message appears. If the electrical supply is accidently interrupted w
hile running the updater (by disconnecting the AC cord, etc.), the unit may beco
me inoperable. If this happens, run the updater again. If the unit still does no
t function after doing this, please contact your nearest Yamaha service center.
5. Power on the MOXF6/MOXF8.
This concludes the update process.

Fixes and Enhancements
< V1.10 to V1.11>
- Solved a problem in which operation would freeze when pressing the fast-forwar
d button during playback while a Tempo or Scene Track was selected in the Patter
n Chain Edit display.
- Solved some other minor problems.
NOTICE:
- When transmitting and receiving MIDI/audio data on the Mac and Windows platfor
ms, make sure to install the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver.
- When updating the firmware to V1.10 or later, make sure to use the Yamaha Stei
nberg USB Driver version 1.8.6 or later.

<V1.03 to V1.10>
- Now allows connection to iOS. However, the confirmed operability is for versio
n 7 or later, and is limited to iPad mini retina display models (A1489, A1490, A
1491), iPad Air (A1474, A1475, A1476), 4th generation iPad (A1458, A1459, A1460)
and iPhone 5s iA1453, A1457, A1518, A1528, A1530, A1533 j, iPhone 5c iA1507, A1516, A
1526, A1529, A1532, A1456 j.
*The text in parentheses above indicates the model numbers, and they are liste
d on the back of the main body of the iPad and iPhone.
- When polyphony is relatively large, the problem that some notes may have been
delayed was improved.
- Solved a problem that operation might freeze when an empty waveform is selecte
d and a continued note-on message is received with the XA control set to KeyOffS
ound in Voice Element Edit.
- Fixed a problem in which arpeggio output, excluding the recording channel, was
recorded in Song recording.
- Solved a problem that the part designation of parameter change became Part 1 a
t all times when operating a knob, when Local Control was set to Off.
- Solved a problem that SysEX messages which were received over a port other tha
n Port 1 were recorded to a Song.
- Solved some other minor problems.
NOTICE:

<V1.02 to V1.03>
- Solved a problem that resulted in incomplete reading of User Arpeggios when lo
ading a file created on a MOTIF XF6, MOTIF XF7, or MOTIF XF8.
- Solved some other minor problems.
NOTICE:
You cannot load the file that was saved within firmware version V1.03 or later w
ith firmware version V1.02 or earlier. However, you can load the file that was s
aved within firmware version V1.02 or earlier, and you can load the file within
firmware version V1.03 or later.

<V1.00 to V1.02>
- Added a HALion5 Control Template for Remote mode.
- Solved a problem that prevented sounds being produced correctly when sample da
ta had been read into an FL512M or FL1024M Flash Memory Expansion Module (sold s
eparately).
- Solved a problem that prevented MOXF6/MOXF8 Editor from going offline when an
FL512M or FL1024M Flash Memory Expansion Module (sold separately) was formatted
or had waveform data deleted while it was online.
- Solved a problem that prevented Voice Banks of part parameters for Performance
, Song Mixing, and Pattern Mixing being correctly read when loading a file creat
ed on a MOX6 or MOX8.
- Solved some other minor problems.
