An Act to prcvide ,for the repeal of tlze Madras Maternity
BeuteJit Act, 1934.
BE it enacted by the Legislature of the "State of Taxnil
Nadu] in the Fiftemth Year of the Republic of India as
follows :-
Short title. 1. This Act may ,be called ;he '[Tamil Nadu] Mater-
nity Eenefit (Repeal) Act, 1964.
Repeal of the 2. On and from the date hotified iil that behalf in the
Madras Mater- Official Gazette by the State Government under clause (b)

0934 (Madras of sub-section (3) of section Z of the Maternity Benefit Act,
~~t M 0flg35). 1961 (Central Act 53 of 1961), as the date on which that
Act shall come into force in relation to establishments
(other than mines), in the State, the Madras Mtternity
Benefit Act, 1934 (Madras Act VI of 1935), shall stand
repealed.
Saving. 3. The repea! of the Madras Mater~~ity Benefit Act,
1934(h4arfras Act V I of 1935),by section 2 shall not aff'ect,-
((I) thi. ~ r e v i o u soieration of the said '[Tamil Nadu
Act] or anything duly done or suffered thereunder ;or
(b) any iight, privilege, obligation or liability acqui-
red,accrued or incurred udder the saidqTami1 Nadu Act];or
(c) any fine, penalty, forfeiture or punishment in-
curred in respect of any offence committed against the
said 4 [Tamil Nadu Act] ; or
( d ) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy
in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation, liability,
fine penzlty, forfeiture, or punishment as aforesaid ; and
any s u d ~investigation,-'legal proceeding or remedy may
be instituted, continued or enforced, and any such fine,
penalty, forfeiture or puuishment may be imposed, as if
this Act had not been passed.
'These words were substituted for the word "Madras" by the Tamil
Xadu .4dapralion of Laws Oider,,1969, as amended by rhe T a d ! Nadu
Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.
