20 Operating System Updater Readme ============


Thank you for purchasing the Yamaha CP5 Stage Piano.
This Readme file contains important information about the CP5 V1.20 Operating Sy
stem update and the updating process. Please read this document carefully before
updating your CP5.

NOTICE:
- This updater is only for the CP5.
- This updater is to be used at the user's own risk.
- All User data (User Performances, Songs and so on) will be initialized by this
updater. Please make sure that you save all User data to a USB flash memory bef
ore performing this update.
- The unit may become inoperable if the electrical supply is interrupted while r
unning the updater (by pulling out the AC cord, etc.). If this happens, run the
updater again from the first step.
- If the unit does not function after running the updater, please contact your n
earest Yamaha service center.

This update will change part of the Factory Set data. For details, please refer
to the "New features" below.
If not necessary, you can ignore this update.

Updating Procedure
NOTICE:
All User data (User Performances, Songs and so on) will be initialized by this
updater. Please make sure that you save all User data to a USB flash memory befo
re performing this update.
Required Items
- One USB flash memory of over 16MB capacity formatted on the CP5

1. After downloading, copy the uncompressed [8I42OS_.PGM] file to a USB flash me


mory that has been formatted on the CP5. No other files should be present on the
USB flash memory.
2. Power off the CP5.
3. Connect the USB flash memory copied in step 1 into the CP5. Hold down the [TR
ANSPOSE] button, then power on the CP5.
4. Confirm the message "Update CP-5" and "Press [ENTER]."
5. Press [ENTER] and the updater will begin with the messages "Checking File." E
rasing. "......%".
When the message "Completed " and " Reboot CP-5." appears, turn off the CP5 and
remove the USB flash memory.
NOTICE:
DO NOT power off or remove the USB flash memory from the CP5 during this time. I
f the electrical supply is accidently interrupted while running the updater (by
pulling out the AC cord, etc.), the unit may become inoperable. If this happens,
run the updater again. If the unit does not function after doing this, please c
ontact your nearest Yamaha service center.
6. Power on the CP5.
7. Execute Factory Set
7-1 Press the [UTILITY] button.
7-2 Navigate to Page 13 (C) of the Utility screen by pressing the [C] button.
7-3 Press Knob 2 (FactSet [PUSH]) and a confirmation message will appear.
7-4 Press Knob 1 (YES [PUSH]) or the [ENTER] button to execute the Factory Set.
When the data has been restored, the message gCompleted. h will appear, followed by
the Utility screen.
NOTICE:
DO NOT power off your CP5 while the message gPlease keep power on... h is displayed
on-screen. If this precaution
is not observed, the content of User Memory may be lost and system data may beco
me corrupted, preventing your CP5
from operating normally the next time it is turned on.
8. Power off the CP5.
9. Hold down the [USER] and [EXT] buttons, then power on the CP5 to check the fi
rmware version to confirm that the CP5 has been successfully updated.
If "Version 1.20" is shown in the display, that the unit has been successfully u
pdated.
Power off the CP5 to exit the version information display, then power on the CP5
.
This concludes the update process.

Main Fixes and Enhancements
<V1.11 to V1.20>
- The current Performance can be now changed while playing a Preset Drum Pattern
as a backing track. In this case, playback of the backing track will be stopped
automatically.
- The CF Grand, S6 Grand, 69Wr, and 77Wr preset Voices have been newly organized
for greater dynamic and expressive response by improving the Voice tunings.
- The A.Ba+Cym and the E.Ba+Cym Voices have now been added to numbers 33 and 34
of the Bass Voice Category.
- The Voices assigned to "off" parts of the preprogrammed Performances have been
newly changed.
- The function which indicates the current firmware version on the display has b
een newly added.
- The USB flash memory initialized as a Mac OS extended format other than the FA
T can be now formatted on the CP5 so that the memory can be used on the CP5.
<V1.10 to V1.11>
- The Factory setting of MASTER COMPRESSOR has been changed from "ON" to "OFF."
- The default power-on program number after executing the Factory Set is changed
from "PRESET1:A01" to "USER1:A01."
- The order of the Performance program numbers in the USER Bank has been newly o
rganized for greater ease of use.
