(Part 1)
Is It A Good Idea For Christians To Drink It??!!
• Many a driver has had his car or truck license taken away & been imprisoned for
causing one needless death on a highway.
• Many a murderer or rapist have been put behind bars also for their heinous crimes.
• Many that have carried out random attacks of violent & sexual assault have also had
to serve prison terms …
YET …
• There is a public menace, an assassin a mass murderer who is
LEGALLY LICENSED
To perpetuate the gradual poisoning, injury, & slaughter of thousands of men, women
& children world-wide each year.

IT IS ALCOHOL !

Alcohol Beverage Companies stand to lose millions of dollars when the


real truth gets out! .
1stly- Your Liver changes alcohol into Acetaldehyde which is a very toxic substance & then
it works very hard to convert it into a harmless Acetate which is then passed out of your body
in the urine. 2ndly- As a result a drinker has to frequent the toilet far more often as their liver
works overtime to have this foreigner expelled from their body. It also is expelled more
minutely through a person's breath & body perspiration. Your body treats Alcohol as a poison!
It works hard to get it out of your system.

Acetaldehyde, is more toxic than ethanol. Acetaldehyde is linked


to most of the clinical effects of alcohol. It has been shown to
increase the risk of developing cirrhosis of the liver, multiple
forms of cancer, and alcoholism.
The process of the liver breaking down alcohol is hard work and it means that your liver
cannot focus on its other job which is sending energizing glucose to other parts of your body.
That's why people tend to feel tired, weak & disorientated after having a booze binge. There are,
however, some exceptions. Some alcoholic drinks also have a large sugar content, such as
Alco pops so the consumer might feel more energetic & not tired, until much later.
Those who advocate any form of social drinking recommend that Men should only drink a
maximum of 3-4 units of 8 grams of Alcohol a day while Women are only recommended to drink
2-3 units of Alcohol a day.

1 Unit of Alcohol is equal to 8 grams or (10 ml) of pure Alcohol, no matter how diluted it is.
The number of units differs between drinks because the alcohol content for each type of alcoholic
beverage is different.

Are you one of those people who would like to lose weight, but have
trouble doing so?

Think about this quote below, from a science text book:


“While we can use alcohol as a food, supplying calories, it can only be
oxidized slowly, & not on demand like glucose. Therefore its clearance
rate from the blood cannot be increased by muscular activity. If the energy
it provides is not used immediately, then it can only be stored as FAT (and
not as glycogen )…” (Chemistry In the Marketplace, by Ben Selinger, 5th
Edition, Page 450).

Alcohol works a number on your body & could be one reason for this!
•Remember, well meaning Advocates for what's called Socially Responsible
Drinking recommend no more than 3-4 units of Alcohol for men a day & no
more than 2-3 units for women a day. Remember 1 Unit of Alcohol = 8 grams or
10 mls of pure alcohol (no matter how diluted it is in a beverage).

•Lets now look at the chemical properties of pure alcohol below:

OBJECTIONS 1
Now wait a minute! Doesn't the apostle Paul advise Timothy to take
a little wine for his belly in 1Timothy 5:23?!
Yes he does, but this verse cannot be used (unless it is used out of context), to justify social or
cultural drinking of alcoholic beverages for the following reasons:

-1) It was for medicinal purposes only “..for thy stomach's sake & thine oft infirmities..” It was
NOT for social pleasure, cultural or peer pressure either.
There are other examples in scripture where wine was used purely for medicinal purposes only
such as in The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-34-37) & when wine was mixed with
Myrrh & offered to Jesus when on the cross (Mark 15:22-23). Before the advent of modern
anesthetics, patients undergoing surgery were given alcohol to help dull the pain, just like
opiates, fentenyl, morphine & other drugs are used today for the same reason.

Medicinal use of a drug does not justify misusing it for social, cultural or pleasure drinking
nor for total intoxication by the same substance.

-2) This verse does not directly say whether the wine referred to is alcoholic wine or new wine.

-3) It was a command to just one person.

-4) This verse would not contradict other passages in the immediate context if the wine referred
to is NEW (non-fermented) WINE (See Romans 14:21; 1Timothy 3:1-5; Titus 1:7-8).
1Timothy 3:8 LIKEWISE also cannot be used to vindicate the drinking of any
alcoholic beverages in small amounts because:
• One must look at the context of verses 1-11
– Since just as 1Timothy 3:1-2 instructs that a pastor is to be SOBER (the
opposite of drunkenness) AS WELL AS “not given to wine” & that
Deacons were to hold to the same standard!
– In verse 9, Deacons were to hold the mystery of the faith in a pure
conscience, which is the opposite of what alcohol may lead to (Proverbs
23:31-35). In God's eyes a little bit of alcohol is too much.
– Verse 11 tells us that the wife of a Deacon is to be SOBER & faithful in
all things. A wife of a Deacon should not be expected to be sober when
her husband doesn't lead by example. It makes sense that the only real way
to be sober is total abstinence! Someone may say, “But I'm not physically
dependant on it I don't drink to get drunk!” If that's you … then you need
to read the alarming quote below …
“Some signs of physical dependence may include the need to drink more alcohol to get
a desired effect (tolerance), and the development of withdrawal symptoms, if the
person stops drinking.
Because tolerance develops, many drinkers don't appear drunk, even when they are
drinking more and more. Their body may start developing problems from the
amount of alcohol constantly being brought into it and some organs may start to
break down and stop working .
These symptoms may go unnoticed by doctors, the drinker, and the drinker's friends
and family. The drinker may need to go in the hospital for other reasons, and when
their drinking stops suddenly, they experience withdrawal (Moskowitz, 1989).”
– Do you need to drink some wine or beer to relax & be happy go lucky when out
with friends?
OBJECTION 2!
What about Jesus turning the water into wine in John 2:1-11?
• In verses 7-9 it is easy to see that our Lord turned WATER to wine. It was
not turning fresh wine grape juice into alcoholic wine.
• There is a huge difference between something which is “GOOD” &
something else which is “WORSE”, whether it be food or wine. Every chef
or biochemist knows that fermentation is a spoiling process. The only
difference between off fruit juice in a bottle & alcoholic wine is that the first
one is an uncontrolled fermentation process, whereas alcoholic wine is
produced by a man using a controlled fermentation process. BOTH produce
toxins which harm the body which rejects them.The body resists & works
overtime to expel these toxins.

Ethanol is a human manufactured toxin.


•In the beginning, when God created the heaven & the earth with
all their hosts, He made everything GOOD! (Genesis 1:4, 10, 12,
18, 21, 25, 31; 1Timothy 4:4). So it makes perfect sense both
according to the context & it is consistent with God's character that
Jesus Christ changed the water into NEW wine. After all Jesus said,
“Behold I make all things NEW…” (Revelation 21:5).

BUT… Normal Decay or things being spoiled


or corrupted is as the result of
Adam's sin (See Genesis 3:14-17;
Romans 8:20-22).
OBJECTION 3!
What about the wine at the last supper in Matthew 26:26-29; Mark
14: 22-25; Luke 22:7-23, wasn't that alcoholic wine? NO!
• Yeast was the agent that was mainly used in Bible times as the fermenting agent to
produce alcoholic wine. Even today yeast is still the main agent used to produce
alcohol in wine (e.g. / Brewers Yeast).

According to the contexts of each of the synoptic Gospel accounts Matthew 26:17;
Mark 14:12 & Luke 22:1,7 show that the Last Supper was held during the Feast
Of Unleavened Bread. Historically, the terms Passover & the feast of Unleavened
bread have been used interchangeably: “Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh,
which is called the Passover.” (Luke 22:1).
•The Jews were given instructions concerning leaven (yeast). What were they? (See
Exodus 12:11-15, next slide).

Yeast was not only used to make bread dough rise – but was also used to ferment
wine. It was not to be consumed during the Feast of Unleavened Bread so would
Jesus have then used fermented wine at the Last Supper?

{12:11} And thus shall ye eat it; [with] your loins girded, your shoes on your
feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it [is] the
LORD’S passover.
{12:12}For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all
the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the
gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I [am] the LORD.
{12:13} And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye
[are:] and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall
not be upon you to destroy [you,] when I smite the land of Egypt.
{12:14} And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a
feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by
an ordinance for ever.
{12:15} Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall
put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread
from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from
Israel.” –Exodus 12:11-15.
Jesus was born of a woman & made under the law & fulfilled the law (Matthew 5:17-19;
Galatians 4:4-5). His was the only sinless life ever lived (Mark 12:29-31; Hebrews 4:15; 1John
2:1), unlike the Pharisees & Scribes whose Hypocrisy Jesus warned about.

“...Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” -Luke 12:1

•Since the New Testament teaches that Christ was under the whole Old Testament Law (not
just the Ten Commandments) & that Christ was sinless, it would NOT have been alcoholic wine
since that would've violated these Old Testament commands & principles against alcoholic
wine (Proverbs 3:9-10; 4:17; 20:1; 23:29-35; 31:4-8; Isaiah 5:22-23; 28:7-8; 65:8; Jeremiah 51:7;
Joel 1:5-8; Amos 2:8; Micah 2:11; Habakkuk 2:15).

the fruit of the vine. Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18).

•Jesus` also called it “the fruit of the vine” not “the aged wine of a barrel” in the context
(Matt 26:29; Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18). It is safe therefore to conclude that Jesus was NOT
serving fermented (alcoholic) wine at the Last Supper.
NEW WINE DOES NOT CONTAIN ALCOHOL
The term “New Wine” occurs 21 times in the entire Bible as a direct statement:
-In the book of Nehemiah as an offering (Neh 10:39; 13:5,12),
-In Proverbs as a Blessing from God (Proverbs 3:10)
-As a blessing that was diminished because of sin (Isaiah 24:7);
-As that which is found “IN THE CLUSTER” & it is a blessing (Isaiah 65:8);
65:8)
-As that IF MIXED WITH WHOREDOM will take away the heart (Hosea 4:11);
-As a blessing withheld by God for Israel`s sin (Hosea 9:2; Joel 1:5, 10 );
-As a future blessing in Jerusalem (Joel 3:18);
-As that which is diminished by drought (Haggai 1:11);
-As that which is able to rejoice the heart (Zechariah 9:17).Alcohol is a depressant, & can
damage the brain, the heart & other organs but NEW wine refreshes & its
antioxidants improve the functions of the organs, refresh the thirst & increase
alertness.
-As that which is UNFERMENTED (Matthew 9:14-17; Mark 2:21-22; Luke 5:36-39). Wine
only gives off Carbon Dioxide (CO2) when it ferments. If NEW wine is put into old
wine skin bottles then when it starts to ferment, the increased amount of pressure
in the bottle from the build up of CO2 gas will eventually burst the old inflexible
wineskins. According to Luke 5:39, New Wine is NOT ADDICTIVE.
-In Acts 2:13-14 where the unbelieving Jews who rejected the sign of Pentecost misjudged the
followers of Christ as drunk.
Have you ever heard of a person getting drunk on grape juice?
New Wine (Grape Wine Juice) can be enjoyed regularly as a refreshing drink BUT
will not lead to drunken behaviour. However when over indulged, is to commit the
sin of gluttony, where one is under the control of food. New Wine is always seen as a
blessing in scripture. New Wine always speaks & is symbolic of blessing when not
mixed with perversion.
Nowhere in scripture is New Wine forbidden to be consumed except for those Jews
who took a Nazarite Vow. (See Numbers 6:1-5)..
{6:1} And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
{6:2}Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or
woman shall separate [themselves] to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate
[themselves] unto the LORD:
{6:3} He shall separate [himself] from wine and strong
drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of
strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor
eat moist grapes, or dried.
{6:4} All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine
tree, from the kernels even to the husk.
{6:5} All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon
his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth [himself] unto the
LORD, he shall be holy, [and] shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.”
–Numbers 6:1-5.
Science On The Fermentation Of Wine
When certain species of yeast (e.g., Saccharomyces cerevisiae) metabolize sugar they produce ethanol and
carbon dioxide. The chemical equation below summarizes the conversion:

Luke 5:36-39
{5:36} And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece
piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise,
then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was [taken] out of the new agreeth not with the old.
{5:37} And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new
new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the
bottles shall perish.
{5:38} But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

A wine skin was a bag made from the skin of a goat for example, and used for holding and dispensing wine.
The metaphors in the two parables were drawn from contemporary culture. New cloth had not yet shrunk, so that using new
cloth to patch older clothing would result in a tear as it began to shrink. Similarly, old wineskins had been "stretched
to the limit”
limit” or become brittle as wine had fermented inside them; using them again therefore risked bursting
them due to the process of fermentation & the production of Carbon Carbon Dioxide gas within the bottle.
The two parables relate to the relationship between Jesus' teaching and traditional Judaism, however this passage (and the
parallel accounts in Matthew & Mark) proves conclusively along with Proverbs 3:9-10 & Isaiah 65:8 that NEW wine is
NON-ALCOHOLIC wine.
Also Note what Luke 9:39 says! As a former social drinker who loved the taste of alcoholic beverages & whose dad died an
alcoholic, let me say this:
“If a person was in any way under the influence of an alcoholic beverage
beverage & liked its sweetened taste, then they would
not straight away desire grape juice (New Wine) for the next drink
drink would they?”

Which type of wine would these verses represent?

*There is however another type of wine in scripture which is as the poison of dragons
& the cruel venom of asps (Deuteronomy 32:33). It is symbolic of violence
(Proverbs 4:16-17), condemnation (Amos 2:8) & spiritual fornication since it is
often used & connected with ungodliness & idolatry (Daniel 1:3-8,16; 5:1-23).

*This other type of wine is that which God says not to even look at which “bites like a
serpent & stings like an adder” causing sexual promiscuity, perverse speech &
bruises that were not felt by its victim when they were afflicted (Proverbs 23:31-
35). This wine causes people to go astray, swallows people up, impairing people's
vision & discretion as well as cause them to vomit (Isaiah 28:7-8). It's the wine
which has made all the nations mad (Jeremiah 51:7) & is forbidden by God to be
given to one's neighbour because it can lead to them getting drunk & exposing their
nakedness (Habakkuk 2:15). Surely you don't believe that this type of wine is the
blessed NEW wine, do you? It can't be!

“ Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest
thy bottle to [him,] and makest [him] drunken also, that
thou mayest look on their nakedness!” -Habakkuk 2:15.

We KNOW that God condemns drunkenness
in the scriptures …
“But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the
priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine,
they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble [in]
judgement For all tables are full of vomit [and] filthiness, [so that there is] no place
[clean].”
–Isaiah 28:7-8.
… So HOW can so many Christians ignore the fact (like
I once did), that God (who is consistent) also would
advise against drinking the type of wine (or any other
alcoholic beverage) that leads to drunkenness, or even
to alcoholism for many after only their first drink!?

“[It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother
stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.” –Romans 14:21.
“Drunkenness, in its most common usage, is the state of
being intoxicated by consumption of ethyl alcohol to a
degree that mental and physical facilities are noticeably
impaired.”

*This is the case whether a person is 0.02 while driving, or


blind drunk & collapsed on the floor.
Self Evaluation Quiz For Social drinkers
Answering 'yes' to some or all of the following points may indicate
indicate alcohol
dependence & the need to seek help:

•Drinking excessive amounts (in excess of guidelines for `safe` drinking) (YES/NO)
•Drinking one type or brand of alcoholic beverage (eg. Beer, wine, etc.) (YES/NO)
•Drink-seeking behaviour (hanging out with others who drink, only going to events that
include drinking, etc.) (YES/NO)
•Increased tolerance (drinking increasing amounts to gain same effect) (YES/NO)
•Decreased tolerance (drinking decreasing amounts to gain the same effect). (YES/NO)
•Withdrawal symptoms (getting physical symptoms after going a short time without
drinking)
(YES/NO)
•Drinking to relieve or avoid withdrawal symptoms (such as drinking to ‘cure’ a
hangover, or to stop the shakes) (YES/NO)
•Some awareness of craving for alcohol or inability to control drinking habits (whether or
not you admit it to others (YES/NO)
•A return to drinking after a period of abstinence (deciding to quit and not being able to
follow through) (YES/NO).
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
“Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not
any unclean [thing: ] For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor
shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb:
and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
–Judges 13:4-5. A message from God to a mother! Thousands of years before the
scientific discovery of F.A.S.!
“OUCH! DON`T DO IT!” 

Another powerful fact to consider is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)!


“Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is caused when a woman who is pregnant drinks alcohol at ANY TIME
during her pregnancy. Alcohol passes easily from the pregnant mother to her baby and may cause
permanent birth defects. It happens because the baby's liver has not developed yet to filter the alcohol
from the fetal body. Alcohol affects normal physical and psychological development of the fetus. FAS
children to have a lot of health and social problems throughout their lives” (Queens Region Addiction
Services).
Are you married & intend to have healthy children?
“A woman may not even know that she may be pregnant at the time of alcohol consumption. The baby's
organs are formed within the first 3 to 8 weeks of pregnancy. By the time she becomes aware of the
unexpected or planned pregnancy, the harm to the fetus may be already done.” (Algar, 1992). (This is
also a sobering thought to any involved in risky sinful relationships
relationships outside of marriage).
“There is absolutely NO TIME during pregnancy when it is safe to drink alcohol. Research has shown that
any amount of alcohol increases the chance that the fetus (unborn baby) will be harmed (Algar, 1992).”
It is interesting in the light of these facts to ask yourself, “If even a minimal amount of alcohol can
damage a woman's baby, what could it be doing to my internal organs organs without me knowing it.?”

The Inherent Spiritual Dangers of Alcohol
Dear Christian Brother or sister Please Consider the following Scriptures:
“Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, [that] they may follow strong drink; that
continue until night, [till] wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and
pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither
consider the operation of his hands.” –Isaiah 5:11-12.

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it
come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” –Luke 21:34-35.
For the Unsaved:
They say, “She'll be right, mate!” Alcohol & drunkenness keep many of the unsaved
from considering the work of the Lord & the operation of His hands. For many,
their friend is in the bottle. They need it to relax, or to cope with their problems &
be more out going … so they don't see the need to come to Jesus for salvation & to
bear their burdens. Those who are lovers of alcohol will be taken unawares & then
will be ashamed when Christ returns suddenly.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived:
neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with
mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the
kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in
the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
-1Corinthians 6:9-11
For the Saved: It is physically & spiritually hazardous.
A Christian may be a social drinker but as a result may cause a weaker brother to
stumble into the sin of alcoholism (especially if the weaker brother has a genetic
predisposition to become an alcoholic). It may be after just one drink. It takes
different amounts for different people to begin to get drunk.
He will be weakening himself physically & mentally. Even after just one drink he
may have already done some irreversible damage to himself & the more he drinks
the more damage will be done. He may end up with depression because alcohol is
a depressant & has been proven to be a cause of it. It grieves the Holy Spirit & it
will ruin his testimony to the unsaved, many of whom also believe that it is out of
place for Christians to drink alcohol.
“[It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth,
or is offended, or is made weak.” – Romans 14:21.
“ Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none
offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all
[men] in all [things,] not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be
saved.” -1Cor 10:31-33.
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” –
Ephesians 4:30.
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;..” –Ephesians 5:18
“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not
be ashamed before him at his coming.” -1John 2:28
Are you still not too sure whether it's O.K. to drink alcohol or not?
“Hast thou faith? have [it] to thyself before God. Happy [is] he that condemneth not
himself in that thing which he alloweth. {14:23} And he that doubteth is damned if he
eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.”
Here is a summary of what the Bible says in Romans 14:22-23
“If in doubt DON`T!”
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the
Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” –Galatians 6:7-8.
A simple summary of Galatians 6:7-8 is – “God forgives but nature never does!”

The Bible says that it is not fit for Kings or Princes to drink alcoholised
wine or strong drink!

“[It is] not for kings, O Lemuel, [it is] not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes
strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of
the afflicted.” –Proverbs 31:4-5.
According to scripture all the Saved are Kings & Priests unto God &
His Father.
“John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from
him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which
are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the
first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that

priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.” -Revelation 1:4-6.
Let the Scriptures settle the issue for the Christian who is sincerely seeking
the truth on this issue & wishes to live a life that is pleasing to God.
“But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of
darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are]
now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained
mercy.” -1Peter 2:9-10.
If you are a Christian who ...
• … doesn't want to place approval on an industry or its product that brings disease, death,
destruction, abuse & misery to millions of people;
If you are a Christian who ...
• … realizes that alcohol lowers people's inhibitions & moral standards as well as placing many into
addiction & bondage where many become alcoholics;
If you are a Christian who ...
• … is aware of the spiritual dangers of alcohol consumption- especially to the unsaved, & you care
about the lost;

If you are a Christian who ...


• … would not like to be a bad example / role model to children (perhaps your own) through drinking
alcoholic beverages in front of them OR drinking it in secret but later being caught out by them; …
If you are a Christian who ...
… who would not like to risk causing a Christian who may be weak, or even a new
Christian - to stumble into using alcohol
as a coping mechanism, or get offended, or be
weakened bodily through
the poison of alcohol;

… then don't drink alcohol!
