PLAN

NAME OF RADIO STATION: KAMM FM (for Klaudia, Alex,

Manav and Matt)
FM Or Internet Radio: We chose to do an FM radio station because it
broadcasts faster than Internet Radio. It can take up to 5 minutes after it
has been broadcasted on FM to come out of your speakers on your phone,
tablet or computer.
Regulations and licencing:
We will easily be able to gain the licence for our radio show from OFCOM
as they regulate all commercial radio stations including community ones
and as we are a part of Henley College its way easier. It will take a while to
wait for the licence after we apply, but they will last for 5 years. The
Ofcom application fee is 600 and the annual licence cost is 850.
Music license; which cover music copyright and royalties to obtain a
licence. PRS (Performing Right Society) who represent artists and
composers collecting royalties from various broadcasters such as radio, TV
and online. PPL (Phonographic Performance Ltd) who collect royalties on
behalf of record companies. MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection
Society) who collect royalties from music reproduced for use on radio.
Around 5000 annually for a small radio station like ours.
Equipment needed:
We will first need to get a hold of a transmitter so that we can be heard in
the Henley area. The price of a transmitter depends on whether we hire or
purchase it (around 5000) and what company we get one off, but we
already planned where we might get ours from when we discussed the
setting up our radio. We will also need an extensive, mixing desk,
computer playout systems, music servers, CD players, mics, headphones,
recording equipment, telephone lines, etc. which will come at a rather
high cost.(around 7000; including getting professionals to set it up for us)
Staff:
Around 6 or possibly more DJS to take turns and also so each can take
care of a different sector. (Announcer, chief engineer, maintenance
engineer, music director, news director, on air personalities, production
director, program director, station manager)
