Opening Scene

Narrator - Once upon a time, during the Qing Dynasty period in the Early 20th century, there
was a family named Qing. There was an empress name Cixi who adopted guang xu since he
was three.

Guangxu and Cixi enter the scene

Cixi hits Guangxu and try to push the traditional chinese in Guangxus mind.

Scene 1

Narrator - 20 years later, Guangxu, which growing up in the later time, has a different
perspective from his aunt. He is in love with Zhen, who is his concubine. Cixi notices that Zhen
is against her thought. As a result, she order her soldier to kill Zhen.

Cixi - What should we do with that woman? She is always against us.

Adviser 2 (Cixi) - But she is Guangxus lover. Although she might seem against us, but she
cannot do anything. She doesnt have much power.

Adviser 1 (Cixi) - NO!! We better stop her. She is really close to the emperor and she is against
our Chinese tradition. We should protect our country.

Cixi - Okay, I see. So, what should we do?

Adviser 1 (Cixi) - The best way is to get rid of her. And you know,weve got many good soldiers.

Cixi whisper to Adviser 1 - Okay, Let our trusted soldiers kill her then!

Narrator - Cixis trusted soldiers secretly enter Zhens bedroom and fight with Zhens body
guards. Cixis soldiers using a blade to cut deep into Zhens throat. Zhens getting out of breath.
And finally, she died.

Zhen slowly falls down.

Scene 2
Narrator - After the dead of Concubine Zhen, Guangxu is really upset with Cixi. He knows that
Cixi is behind this.

Guangxu and Cixi enter

Guangxu - I know what you did to Zhen.

Cixi - What are you talking about?

Guangxu - She was killed by your soldier last night.

Cixi laughs

Cixi - Oh. You are smarter than I think. Maybe my acting skill is not that great.

Guangxu - Why would you do that?

Cixi - Because she is in my way. She left me no choice but to kill her. And you know what, she
is trying to push the modern ideas into your mind. You are with me since you were young. You
should have the same thought as mine. But you are totally not.

Adviser 1(Guangxu) enters the scene

Adviser 1 (Guangxu) - Right now, a group of yihequan is fighting with the eight nation
alliances. Our people are dying.

Guangxu - See! Our country is already suffered from those Boxer rebellion. And you are still
killing our own people .

Adviser 2 (Guangxu) - Calm down, Emperor.

Cixi - What! Boxer rebellion? I didn't know anything about that

Guangxu - The boxer rebellion, there are anti foreigner that fight against the foreign army and
cause many chaos around the city. And also taiping rebellion. Just those two rebellions, you
should know what you did wrong by now.

Adviser 1 (Guangxu) - We cant let this happen like Opium War. You two were fighting over
each other like this. And you see what happened? We better change our government to be a
more democratic. (turn to Ci xi) You should just let the foreigners have right to trade with our
country, in addition, we can just collect the tax.
Adviser 2 (Guangxu) - But I think you better make some agreement with the foreigner. We
shouldnt let them trade right away.

Adviser 2 (Cixi) - Yeah, I think we should make an agreement Cixi.

Cixi - Weve tried once and it didnt work.

Adviser 2 (Cixi) -But we should try again. Maybe it will work!

Scene 3

Narrator - After a big argument, Cixi realized that she was too strict about the tradition. SHe
should have listen to what Guangxu suggests, as a result, Cixi and Guangxu are working to try
to make China a better place. They contact with the European to import more Western
technology as Guangxu suggested

Adviser 1 (Guangxu) - Hello, We are Chinese ambassador. Were here to make an agreement
about exporting your technology to our country. We are really appreciated to have be working
with you

Shaking hand with the british ambassador

Narrator - After China trading with the British, Cixi tries to change from absolute monarchy to
democracy. Guangxu starts the project 100 days of reform. Chinese economy start getting
better and better. Guang xu and Cixi are living together happily ever and after
