3 Year Old Milestones:

Physical:
At a glance, three year olds usually get better at using their fine motor skills.
Become more interested in playing with other children.
They can walk without tripping
Jump, hop and stand on one foot.
Walk backwards and climb stairs.
Kick and throw a small ball and catch a bigger ball most of the time.
Climb
Start pedaling a tricycle or bike
Play with toys with small moving parts and buttons
Turn pages of a book one at a time
Build with mega blocks and create towers of six or more blocks.
Work door handles and twist on bottle tops
Cognitive:
Name eight colors in a crayon box.
Recite numbers to 10 and start counting groups of things.
Start understanding time in terms of morning, night, and days of the week.
Remember and retell favorite stories.
Understand and talk about things that are the same and different.
Follow simple three step directions
Language:
Use basic rules of grammar
Speak well enough that even strangers can understand
Use 5 or 6 words in sentence and have a two or three sentence conversation.
Tell their name, name of a friend, and common objects.
Understands words like in, on, behind and next.
Ask, wh, questions to get more info.
Social and Emotional:
Be interested in doing new things.
Start to play with children
Start being able to comfort and show concern for unhappy friends.
Take turns
Play real life with toys and play kitchens
