Neptune High School Baseball Program

Expectations 2017
Being a part of the Neptune High School Baseball Program is a privilege not a right. Anyone
wishing to participate in this program must follow and abide by the Neptune Athletic Department
Rules, Neptune school rules, NJSIAA rules, and rules set by the Neptune Baseball coaching staff.

- The use of tobacco, drugs, alcohol, and PEDs will not be tolerated. Any violation of this
policy will result in immediate suspension and/or expulsion from the NHS baseball
program.

- Student athletes are expected to arrive on time for practice and games. Practice will begin
promptly at 2:15 PM, if you are not on the field and ready by 2:10 PM you are late.
Unexcused absences from practices will result in missing playing time. Injured athletes
will follow the same policy (schedule doctors appointments around practice time). In the
case of extreme emergencies contact the coaches immediately to discuss flexibility.

- Any student receiving a disciplinary consequence (OD, ISS, and Suspension) the day
before or the day of a game may not participate in that game as per school and coaching
policy. Multiple disciplinary offenses will result in removal from the NHS baseball
program.

- As a member of the NHS baseball program you are a student athlete, with the word
STUDENT coming first. You are expected to maintain your grade point average during
the season. During the season if your grade point average falls below a 2.0 (C) the
coaching staff will be requesting weekly progress reports to closely monitor your
academic progress.

- RESPECT! Respect is a key part of the NHS baseball programs. Disrespectful behavior
will not be tolerated in any fashion. You as a student athlete are expected to show respect
for the coaching staff, your teammates, the umpires, the opposing team/coaching staff,
the game of baseball, and most importantly yourself.

- During practice and games there will be a dress code. Student athletes are expected to
wear the provided uniforms for Home/Away games at all times (This includes Neptune
Baseball hat, belt, black socks, jersey, and baseball pants). During practices student
athletes are expected to wear the following: 1) Red, Black, or Gray shirts 2) Neptune
Baseball Hat 3) Black socks 4) Gray baseball pants 5) Black belt.

Communicating with the Coaching Staff

Communication is of vital importance to the success of the NHS baseball program. As
coaches we understand that parents share a great interest in the success and general welfare
of their childs athletic performance. If you need to contact the coaching staff for any reason
at all please adhere to the following guidelines:

1) If there is an issue or concern please set up an appointment in advance to speak with the
coaching staff.
2) Discussions cannot take place during practice or game times.
3) To ensure privacy, discussions with parents can only be in reference to that parents child.
