PDF Mass Printing from SAP Requirements and Manual

Purpose

With some recently delivered functionality using PDF forms, there are challenges to mass print the
forms. The forms are not concatenated within the printing process.

Examples are Cash on VAT Payment receipts for Portugual.

This issue is solved through certain versions and levels of programs as described below.

Requirements for Mass Printing PDF based forms

The following explanations should help anyone working with mass printing of pdf-based forms to
obtain the appropriate tools for this.

Overview over Requirements for Mass Printing of PDF based

forms
In order to successfully mass print pdf-based forms, the following programs and versions are
necessary:

SAP GUI 7.20, Patch Level 7

SAP PDF Print, Version 4
PC FILE Printer
SAP Printer with Access Method G and Device Type PDF1
Manual for Program Updates for PDF Mass Printing

SAP GUI 7.20, Patch Level 7

How to check the SAP GUI version and Patch level

The SAP GUI needs to be upgraded to version 7.20, patch level 7.

NOTE: This manual is presuming you already have SAP GUI 7.20, but patch level 0.
In case you still have SAP GUI 7.10, please get in touch with your ADP contact person.

You should find that you currently have Patch-Level 7 :

Installation Upgrade SAP GUI 7.20, to Patch Level 7

1. Close all active SAP Screens and SAPGUI Logon Pad and any other Application active in your
computer.

2. Go to the CD you received and locate SAPGUI 720 Patch 7 Installation File: gui720_7-10007878.exe

3. Copy SAPGUI 720 Patch 7 Installation File to your Local drive - which will be Normally ( C:\
drive)

3. Make sure your hard disk (assuming C:\ is the disk for installing the GUI software) has 300
to 400MB free for installing the SAP GUI Patch.

4. Change directory to C:\

5. Execute/Double Click on file: gui720_7-10007878.exe

6. Follow below steps after double clicking on the installation file...

7. The following screen will be displayed once the patch install is ready to start. Now click "Next" to
continue with Installation Process.
8. The installation starts and displays the following progress screen
9. Below screen appears once Patch Installation is successfully completed - You can now - click on
"Close" button to end Installation Process.

10. Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

11. To check the updated SAPGUI720 patch, you can follow the steps shown in below screen shots.

Installing SAP PDF Print, Version 4

SAP PDF Print is a SAP GUI complement, and most likely has to be implemented for most users
additionally, as they would not have it from before.

NOTE: any issues with installing the program can lead to the SAP GUI not working any more.
So please follow the installation instructions carefully:
- Close all other applications while installing any program
- Re-start your PC after installation of SAP GUI as well as after the installation of SAP PDF
Print.
If an error has occurred, please de-install and reinstall both SAP PDF Print and SAP GUI.

Installation Steps:

1. Close all active SAP Screens and SAPGUI Logon Pad and any other Application active in your
computer.

2. Go to the CD you received and locate SAPGUI 720 Patch 7 Installation File. xPPrint_4-10008891.exe

3. Copy SAPGUI 720 Patch 7 Installation File to your Local drive - which will be Normally ( C:\

7. The following screen will be displayed once the PDFPRINT patch install is ready to start.
8. In the below Screen you need to Select - SAP PDFPRINT as shown in the next screen.

9. Select - SAP PDFPRINT and leave rest Unselected.

10. By Default Installation Process will choose to Install this patch under your local drive in Program
Files folder - You can leave the recommended Installation path or choose your own Installation Path
by selecting - Browse Button as shown in below screen.

11. The installation starts and displays the following progress screen.
12. Below screen appears once Patch Installation is successfully completed - You can now - click on "
Close" button to end Installation Process.

13. Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

PC FILE Printer
A special print to file printer needs to be installed on you PC locally, which uses Port FILE.

Installation of a PC FILE Printer

Follow the instructions below:

If the next screenshot doesnt appear to you, just ignore it and follow with the next one.
SAP Printer to be used: GVE-PDF_MassPrint

Within SAP, it is necessary to use a printer with access method G and device type PDF1.

Please use SAP Printer GVE-PDF_MassPrint for this purpose.

Examples for Mass Printing PDF Based Forms
When you execute the report or transaction code, you will get the below popup.

Chose SAP Printer GVE.PDF_MassPrint and Print Immediately

Chose the correct FILE printer Generic IBM Graphics 9pin or the name you have chosen earlier:
