Zirconium

Zirconium is a very strong, malleable, ductile, lustrous silver-gray metal. Its chemical and
physical properties are similar to those of titanium. Zirconium is extremely resistant to heat
and corrosion. Zirconium is lighter than steel and its hardness is similar to copper. When it is
finely divided, the metal can spontaneously ignite in air, especially at high temperatures.

Zirconium is used in surgical appliances, in photoflash bulbs, as a getter in vacuum tubes, an

alloying agent in steel, explosive primers, lamp filaments, rayon spinnerets, and much more.
It is used in poison ivy lotions as a form of carbonate.

Zirconium is used in alloys such as zircaloy, which is used in nuclear

applications since it does not readily absorb neutrons. Also used in
catalytic converters, percussion caps and furnace bricks. Baddeleyite and
impure zirconium (zirconia) are used in lab crucibles.

Biomedical applications[edit]

Zirconium-bearing compounds are used in many biomedical applications, including dental

implants and crowns, knee and hip replacements, middle-ear ossicular chain reconstruction,
and other restorative and prosthetic devices.[40]

Space and aeronautic industries[edit]

Materials fabricated from zirconium metal and ZrO2 are used in space vehicles where
resistance to heat is needed.[19]

High temperature parts such as combustors, blades, and vanes in jet engines and
stationary gas turbines are increasingly being protected by thin ceramic layers, usually
composed of a mixture of zirconia and yttria.[34]

Tungsten
Tungsten is an excellent material for high vacuum technology, dimensional stability, glass
seals and furnace construction. In addition, Tungstens high density gives it a capacity to
absorb radioactive radiation. Tungsten has found wide use as additives to steel to enhance
physical properties and an alloy with nickel, copper and iron to provide high density
machinable materials.

Applications - Rod, Sheet, Plate

High temperature furnace components, glass to metal seals, heavy metal alloys, medical
devices, welding electrodes
Phosphor Bronze (Cu94/Sn6)

Good machineability. Uses include springs, clips, gauzes and architectural applications.

Brass Sheet

These Brass Plates have higher tensile strength and hence find their usage in different
industrial applications. High resistant to corrosion and pressure, these brass plates can be
custom manufactured in desired specifications.
