ASKING QUESTIONS LESSON PLAN 2
The behavioral objective is for children to be able to use extended language to communicate
their ideas regarding the events in the book and provide answers to open-ended questions.
Another objective is for the children to be able to participate in group conversation by using
expanded sentences.
Materials:
The book I know an Old Lady that Swallowed a Fly, picture cards of animals mentioned in the

Presentation
o Review the book and the sequence in which the Old Lady swallowed the animals
o Then display the animal pictures and have the children sequence the order of the animals.
Ask the children questions like Which animal is the biggest? Which of the animals is
the smallest? Also discuss with the children about habitat of each animal and ask if they
o Then ask the children What other animals could the Old Lady have swallowed
and why? and write down the childrens response on the chart paper. Then
o Share the responses with all the children in large group and ask the children
4. What food can the lady eat instead of eating the animals?
5. Which animal do you think was the hardest to swallow and why?
