ACT AGAINST VIOLENCE 2
Abstract
There are many topics in the world that need to be stopped, and one of them is
gender-based violence. Many humans in the world do not notice their surroundings to notice that
there is people who suffer from violence. It should be a requirement to know what it is and how
we can help another person when they truly need it. We all need to be educated so that we can
put a stop to the torturing of living through something like that. Although it is something that you
would think people arent okay with, there is people who dont care about gender-based
violence. It is in everyones hands to help out their community to know what it truly is.
Gender-based violence should be against the law and anyone who acts against it, should
be arrested for a life sentence. Many people live in their own small world without really knowing
what gender-based violence is, so what really is it? Why is it against human rights, and where in
the world is it located? Gender-based Violence should be stopped at all costs, for the violation of
Gender-based violence is something that many people dont know much about, but they
need to be educated on. The definition of gender-based violence is an act of suffering towards
women that consist of, physical, sexual or psychological. Removing all liberty on the woman,
giving them no choice but to suffer. Victims who suffer from sexual violence, can lead to unwanted
pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, death and unsafe abortions. Women around the
world are suffering from traumatic experiences, in which people respond with, She was asking
for it, just because of the way that the woman was dressed. Gender-based violence is all around
It is said that gender-based violence is against human rights, and there is a lot of evidence
supporting this. Gender-based violence damages human rights, economic stability, public health and
security. Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the
world. Another quote, Gender-based violence undermines the health, dignity, security and autonomy of
its victims, yet it remains shrouded in a culture of silence. This shows that so many of the population in
this world have given up towards the fact that maybe one day, we can end gender-based violence. All
around the world, there is people who believe there is nothing wrong with gender-based violence.
Is gender-based violence happen in only one area of the world, or is it worldspread? The
UNdata shows that violence against women happens all around the world. It knows no social, economic

or national boundaries. This quote shows that there really isnt any way to decide who is going to be the
next victim, it could be some random woman. Worldwide, an estimated one in three women will
experience physical or sexual abuse in her lifetime. This little excerpt of a sentence, makes it truly sad
that you can walk into a room and someone in there could be suffering from sexual violence. There is no
limit to where gender-based violence is, it happens all around the world.
Counter Argument
Gender-based violence is not something that violates human rights. Women are not
objects that you can use to satisfy your needs, without women there would be no human
reproduction. Theyre humans who have feelings and when you commit any violence towards
them, it is violating them and putting them through a traumatic experience. When you put a
woman through something so wrong, things for that person will never ever be the same again, it
will be as if a part of them got taken away which is against human rights. It is widespread
nonstop across the world, hurting many women. There is no excuse for committing gender-based
Conclusion
Gender-based violence should be against the law and anyone who acts against it, should
be arrested for a life sentence. People dont know what it means, where it is or how it affects a
human damaging their life. There really isnt a solution to stop gender-based violence, anywhere
in the world there will be someone who cannot contain themselves and do something thats not
right towards a woman. All we can do is make sure that we are as safe as we can and be careful.

Out of the many subjects Half the Sky talks about it also talks about, rape, sexual and
physical violence all towards women. The first thing that they go into talking about is
how someone, Sonette Ehlers, created some kind of small weapon that would protect
women. Yet, many people didnt like it back then saying it was more like a medieval
weapon. Ehlers responded saying it was a medieval deed. In the rest of the book, it goes
into much detail on how you can act to stop rape and help someone out. In a part of the
book, someone who suffered from rape opened up and talked about her story. It is a very
inspiring part of the book that gives hope. For many people who have suffered through
that experience, it can give them hope to keep fighting to move on and keep going with
their lives.

The book A Woman Like You: The Face of Domestic Violence is the book that I chose to
get sources and information from, it is a very good book in which I got so much
information from. It gives you information of others who have suffered through the same
thing, how to move on with your life. I read on how people suffered through the
traumatic experience and yet moved on. It is not easy for people to just get up and move
on from that. Which is what this book teaches you, it shows on how you can not make
that experience define you for the rest of your life. It also gives more perspectives that

This article is on how the world does not treat women the same as men. Because of this
cause it has the effect that men think they can do whatever they want with women,
leading to violence against women. The inequality that we have towards women is why
no one ever really moves on. Men treat women as objects, leading them to do whatever
they want with them. Making the women to live through a traumatic experience in which
she has to adapt through the fact that she ever lived through something like that.
