Journal First Week (24/7/2016 28/7/2016)

1. Problem
This is my first week at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tempinis as a trainee teacher.

As for the problem, I face problem of having rough time to have two way

communications with the pupils as they were intermediate level pupils. Thus,

teaching English will be a tough job for me to teach Year 4 Tabah.


2. Analysis
The problem of communication among the teacher and pupils occurred

frequently as pupils unable to comprehend and their listening skills are not too

high. Thus, teacher who used high vocabulary, fast pace of speaking and

complex sentences will make the pupils confuse. During the first class with

Year 4 Tabah, I have problem to speak and listen to what they speak as they

are not encourage to speak English in the classroom. Instead of listening to a

good response from the pupils, they are limited to translation of meaning, from

English to Malay whereas, help in learning and acquire the language.

However, they were unable to spoke properly using English language.


3. Suggestion
a) I should set the class rules and routines where English is used in the

classroom and limiting their usage of Malay language in the classroom.

Also, I should drill them with classroom routines such as what day is

today? How are you? to encourage them to speak English in the

classroom.
b) I should devise a good mechanism or activities to encourage them to

speak using English. Each activity should have listening and speaking

skills which integrated in each lesson that can help them build their

confidence in speaking using English.


c) I should improvise and adapting my activities so that it can suit my pupils

language levels and also uses the body language or gestures to explain

the meaning of words or instructions.


d) Also, I should get advises and methods from supervisor, mentor, practicum

partner and friends to help me in teaching English better in the classroom.


4. Duration
I will try to overcome the problems and devise a countermeasure for this

problems in the future teaching and learning session. This is a must in order

for me to overcome the language barriers whereas it affects the overall

teaching and learning session.


5. Action
During the planning of the lesson plan, I will devise suitable activities and

flexible instruction that will enable my pupils to comprehend the instructions. I

also will implement the listening and speaking skills to enhance and

encourage them to speak English as medium of interactions in the classroom.

Journal Second Week (31/7/2016 4/8/2016)

1. Problem
This is my second week at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kota Jembal as a trainee

teacher. As for the problem, I face problem of having conduciveness in

classroom where optimal learning can occurs in teaching and learning


sessions. In the class, there are total of 27 pupils with limited space for

learning and activities for groups are very restricted with the space available.

2. Analysis
The problem of small classroom is a usual problem in any school with large

numbers of pupils. In Year 5 Yakin, pupils were restricted with too many pupils

in the classroom and also limited space available and thus, limited the

activities that can be implemented in the classroom. This will affect the pupils

learning as well as teachers teaching. As the problem occurred, teacher only

have option of teacher-centred teaching and learning method where the entire

lesson will focus only on the teacher. Thus, it results to unachieved objectives

for the lessons.


3. Suggestion
a) I should try to arrange the seating of the pupils properly with space for

them to interact in the learning sessions. In this case, pupils will able to

interact and actively participate in any activities that I devised for them.
b) I should find an alternative to teach my pupils in order to promote their

optimal learning during the session. One of the alternatives is that, I

used different place for teaching and learning, for example the open

hall of Persada Kota Jembal or Computer lab with more space and

seating arrangement that can improve their learning.


c) I should use groups activities with more spaces and try utilise the

space available in the classroom for the group activities. In this case, I

just use the limited space to devise a proper activities where pupils

able to interact with each other in the groups.


d) Also, I should get advises and methods from supervisor, mentor,

practicum partner and friends to help me in teaching English better in

the classroom.
4. Duration
I will try to overcome the problems and devise a countermeasure for this

problems in the future teaching and learning session. This is a must for

teacher to avoid pupils from passively participate and also to reduce the

probabilities of misbehaviours from happen in the classroom. It also can help

me to increase the learning input for the pupils and achieve the objectives.
5. Action
During the planning of the lesson plan, I will try to overlook this matter and

find suitable and alternative ways to provide the pupils with more space and

work space for them to work in groups and also for the implementation of

activities in teaching and learning.

Journal Third Week (7/8/2016 11/8/2016)

1. Problem
This is my second third week at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tempinis as a trainee

teacher. As for the problem, I face problem of classroom control where some

pupils seem more playful in the class as they were more familiar with me. This

will affect the classroom teaching and learning session which escalation of

misbehaviour in the classroom might occur during the teaching and learning

sessions.

2. Analysis
The problem of controlling and managing classroom is a problem that should

be taken into account for teachers, especially trainee teachers as it will affect

the overall teaching and learning sessions. Pupils who came familiar with the
teachers tend to overrule the teacher and start making fuss and noise in the

classroom. So, teachers should be wary of this problem as it can affect

yourself and also the respects from the pupils.

3. Suggestion
a) I should set new rules and routines for the pupils so that they will able

to learn how to respect teachers and elders. This will give them

suitable learning values as they learn to respect elderly and the one

who educate them.


b) I should become more firm and strict in the teaching and learning so

that they will obey the instruction and avoid them from being rude to

the teachers. A little threat will help teachers to establish well discipline

classroom.
c) I should also paste the rules and good behaviour list in the classroom

for them to understand what should they dos and donts in the

classroom. It should able to create for pupils to understand the learning

and teaching rules as well as good behaviour that they should show

during the lessons.


d) Also, I should get advises and methods from supervisor, mentor,

practicum partner and friends to help me in teaching English better in

the classroom.
4. Duration
I will try to overcome the problems and devise a countermeasure for this

problems in the future teaching and learning session. This countermeasure is

a must for teachers to implement immediately as it can help teachers to

implement a better teaching and learning sessions as well as nurture them to

good behaviours for their future.


5. Action
During the planning of the lesson plan, I will devise the rules and routines for

the pupils to obey during the classroom where the instructions and rules need
to be clear. Aside from that, I will become more firm and strict sot that pupils

know the line between teacher and pupils relationship.
