o Yes, the training speaks to safety concerns that are prevalent in the geographic area as well as across the nation. This training provides pointers on how to survive and how to help others survive in life-threatening situations. Are the activities effective? o The activities are scenarios that require learners to respond to a potential threat utilizing the training they will have just undergone. The effectiveness of these scenarios appears to be high during the development phase. This will be further vetted during implementation. What is the big picture? Has that been captured in this training? o The big picture is that there are potential threat to the facility for which employees should be prepared to respond if need be. The threats being addressed are: natural disasters, fires, and active shooter events. We have prepared for years (and all our lives) for natural disasters and fires through drills as young as elementary school. However, there have not been any drills facilitated at Solid Waste Services that address active shooter events. This training sees the big picture that these events are not so far off as wed like to believe; sadly, they are at our back door. We want to ensure employees working at this facility are trained to know their options to respond. Does this have the potential to grow? Absolutely, Solid Waste Services is only one department with the organization. The potential for growth is very wide. As revisions are made to this training there will also be opportunities for refresher trainings for departments that have already completed the training.
