Analysis of the Iridium Spark plug use in the effort to reduce the emission on
Supra X-125 Motorcycle

To maintain the quality of clean air and improving machines performance

is to improve the quality of the fuel and efficiency of the engine itself.The purpose
of this study is to analyze the effect iridium sparkplug aggainst the decrease of
emmision on supra X-125.By using spark plug with lower mass in the central and
side electrode as the iridium spark plug, Comparation method by applying iridium
based spark plug and the reading of the emission test is then compared to the
emission produced from the engine with standard spark plug at various rpm. By
using iridium spark plug that have lower mass in the central and side electrode are
producing more energy on flame front. This characteristic provides more
efficient burning, providing fuel economy, improving engine performance,
facilitating the starting and reducing the level of emission. The HC content in the
emission from the machine using standard spark plug at 5000 rpm is 358
ppm.While the machine that use iridium spark plug produced of 234 ppm HC
content.This results shows that there is a 35 % decrease in the emission. The
Highest CO content is found at 3700 rpm, with nominal of 6,283 % from the
engine that used standar spark plug and 5,286% from the iridium spark plug that
applied on the engine, which shows that there is 16% decrease of emission.
