Sources and Impacts of Air Pollution

Illustration of air pollution

Did you know what the impact of air pollution? Impact of air pollution would
be bad for life because air is one of the most important components of the
earth. The whole creation of life on earth, the air needed for survival. The air
content is made up of oxygen, nitrogen, water vapor, carbon dioxide, and
other gases that are useful for the survival of these creatures on earth.

Along advancements and the rapid development of the earth, the air
composition of the earth is from contamination. Air pollution occurs due to
high development and progression of age do not pay attention to aspects of
the environment, such as air, water, and soil.

Air pollution is because of the influence of changes in the conditions of

chemical or biological substances in large quantities in the atmosphere. Air
pollution can endanger health of all the creatures living on this earth, like
humans, animals, and plants. In addition, air pollution can interfere with the
aesthetics and comfort as well as malign property.

Air pollution occurs from natural sources or due to action of people who do
not pay attention to the surrounding ekositem balance in doing development.
Air pollution covering some physical disturbance, such as pollution, heat,
radiation, light pollution, and noise pollution. Owned nature of air pollution
resulting impact can be local, regional, or global.

Air Pollution - Source Pollution Air

Air pollutants distinguish from become two, i.e. pollutants primary and
pollutants secondary. Pollutants primary is the real substance pollutants
arising directly from the source of air pollution. Examples of nutrient
pollutants primer is karbonmonoksida. This substance is a substance in the
products of combustion. In the meantime, pollutant secondary is pollutants
that formed from reaction pollutants-pollutants primary in the atmosphere
has. reducing the laipsan ozone is an example in from pollution secondary
air.

Recently, concerns arise due to the effects of air pollution emissions in a

global context and its relationship to global warming (global warming). Here
this source of-source air pollution howsoever arising human activities nor
which contributed to by source experienced.

Sources of Air Pollution Human Activity

- Transport - Industry - Power plant - Burning (fireplaces, stoves, and

various other types of combustion) - Flue gas plant that produces harmful
gases, such as CFCs.

Natural Resources Air Pollution

- Volcanoes - Forest fires - Nitrification and biological denitrifikasi.

Air pollutant substances

- Carbon monoxide - Oxides of nitrogen -Oxides of sulfur - CFC -

Hydrocarbons - Ozone - Volatile organic compounds -
Particulates.

Impact of Air Pollution

Air pollution has a very bad impact for the health of living beings, particularly
caught up. Polluted air will get into the body through the respiratory system.
From the respiratory system, air that has been inhaled substances will be
used toward the rays of the lungs. From the lungs, trace contaminants
absorbed by the circulatory system and spread throughout the body.

A reoccurring health problems due to air pollution is ARI (Acute Respiratory

tract infection). Diseases that fall under the category of ARI among asthma,
bronchitis, and other respiratory.

Meanwhile, the plant was able to feel the impact of air pollution that
occurred. Plants grown in areas with high air pollution levels can be disturbed
stricken with disease progression and cartilage. In addition, air pollution will
hinder the process of plant photosynthesis.
Air pollution resulting from CO2 and NO2 will lead to changes in the pH of
rainwater. Rainwater pH changes will result in the occurrence of acid rain. If
acid rain occurs, there will be some impact resulting damage crops, affect
surface water quality, and can damage the material and buildings.

Air pollution in big stadiums will result in greenhouse gases. This

phenomenon is due to the presence of CO2 content, CFCs, methane, ozone,
and N2O at troposfer layer that absorbs the sun's heat radiation which is
then reflected by the Earth's surface. As a result, greenhouse erfek will result
in global warming (global warming). Global warming's impact on polar ice
melting occurred, regional and global climate change, and the change cycle
of flora and fauna.

Air pollution also can damage the ozone layer is a protective layer of the
Earth from ultraviolet radiation. Air pollution caused by emissions of CFCs
would cause the formation of holes in the ozone layer. Damage to the ozone
layer will lead to the ultraviolet rays will go straight into the earth without
experiencing screening by the ozone layer.

Air Pollution Impact On Health

Viewed from the point of view of health, air pollution could be causing
impaired health and growth of children, such as anemia. In the current period
of growth, red blood cells continue production. However, the inclusion of lead
can harm red blood cells until the number the longer the sidikit until
eventually the child will suffer from anemia.

Not only that, which lead into the body will break even red blood cells should
be sent to the brain that have an impact on the disorder of the brain. The
most dangerous of air pollution impacts our ability to think this is
harassment, arrest the slow, and low IQ levels. Growth in relation to physical,
air pollution in the form of lead will cause growth retardation and hearing
loss at specific frequencies

This type of air pollution also affects the reproduction or fertility in adults.
The substance can reduce the number and function of sperm to result in
infertility. Lead can also interfere with the function of the heart, the kidneys,
causing a stroke, and cause cancer.

In pregnant women, high risk may have occurred if the lead content in their
blood above the normal limits. Lead will flow to the fetus to inhibit brain
development, but the mother will suffer a miscarriage. For additional
information, high lead content in the blood initially will not show symptoms
of the disease and emerging in the long run.

Often already done research relating to air pollution in the form lead. In
2001, the children of the target proportional impact study, which is to take a
blood sample of 400 elementary school children in Jakarta. The result of this
study points out that about 35 percent of the sample turned out to have lead
content in the blood above normal. Amount raised from these research
results mean exceeding the threshold for lead in children's bodies are
already sitetapkan by the CDC (Center for Deseases Control and Prevention),
which is only 10mikrogram per desileter.

Level Air Pollution in Indonesia

Air pollution in Indonesia has reached a level that harms because according
to the study mentioned that Indonesia is the country with the third highest
level of air pollution in the world. In fact, the World Bank cites City of Jakarta
as one of the cities that have the highest rates of particulate pollutants or
under Beijing, New Delhi, and Mexico City. For the national level, the West
Java province with the highest policy in Indonesia, according to the views of
the Research Ozone and Air Pollution EIGHT (Board of National Aviation and
Space).

Overall, the highest cause of air pollution in Indonesia comes from transport
emissions, which is as much as 85 percent. It is caused by the acceleration of
the ownership of the motor vehicle exhaust emissions produce bad quality,
very high. In addition, forest fires and also follow industry affecting air
pollution.
