Brief description of the Diploma in Music Performance:

Majors - Guitars: Studied under one of the best jazz guitarists,Sid Jacobs who has been teaching at
Musicians Institute, LA for 30 years now. Learnt how to sight read scores, how to interpret and analyse the
harmony in order to improvise; reharmonize popular songs. Also learnt a lot of jazz vocabulary to apply in
solo guitar situations. How to improvise on the fly, Learn your fretboard, Also, mastered the famous The Art
of Two Line Improvisation by Jimmy Wyble. Learnt a lot of Brazillian and Latin challenging pieces for my
recitals.

Other Subjects: They included - contemporary harmony (modules 1 & 2) that dealt with the harmonisation
of scales, voice leading, understanding the harmony of scores and reharmorninsing, upper structure triads;
reading rhythms that included reading and writing rhythms (normal and polyrhythms), transcribing small
pieces of western rhythms as well as Konnakol pieces; Ear Training that included identifying all intervals,
chord types with extensions, scales, modes, transcribing pieces by ear given a reference note; Konnakol -
helped break down rhythms and polyrhythms to understand better and create our own complex korvais;
Carnatic studies 1 & 2 - introduced us to Melakarta ragas and their derivatives, required students to prepare
one piece for the exam; Composition and Arrangement - dealt with the different ways of composing, adding
harmony to existing melody and vice versa, discussed about orchestration in a big band; Basic Piano- Dealt
with basic comping skills and left and right hand techniques
SCHOLARSHIPS/AWARDS/ACHIEVEMENTS:

1. Awarded a cumulative scholarship of Rs 1 Lac at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in the semesters

of Spring 2016 and Fall 2016
2. Landed in the top 15 finalists for All india Fingerstyle Guitar competition 2016 and had a chance to
interact and play my music in front of Don Ross
3. Played lead guitars for the metal band Elvish Mirage from 2010-2012
4. Sid, my guitar mentor, gave me the Best Student award at SAM.(Swarnabhoomi Academy of
Music)

WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. Worked as a infrastructure analyst in Accenture, Pune for 3 years and quit my job in November '15 for my
passion for music
2. Have been playing guitar for around 15 years now and intensively studied under Sid Jacobs who is a
renowned jazz musician played with Frank Sinatra Jr.
