Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: Before using the student response activity, we will have a practice round with
simple questions so students could get used to the system.
Describe the purpose of the SRS activity (check all that apply):

mastery for ALL students) Summative Assessment of Content Knowledge Test Preparation

Additional explanation of purpose (optional):

Type of session: Teacher-Paced Student-Paced

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the session
SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity
Students will login to Socrative and join my classroom. To begin with, students will do the Space Race
to have a fun way to prepare for the quiz. During the space race, I will be encouraging students and telling
them which team is in the lead. This should only take about 3 minutes.
After that, the students will take the quiz, which has the same exact questions as the space race. This
should take about 5 minutes. During the quiz, I will monitor the students to make sure they are not cheating,
and answer any questions (without giving answers, of course). To complete both the space race and the
quiz, each student will need an iPad, computer, or phone, and the teacher will need an iPad or computer to
give the assessments.

Provide samples of questions/prompts to be given to students:
This movement is done by moving on your hands and your feet at the same time (bear crawl)
Galloping is done by starting with one foot in front, then putting the opposite foot in front (false)
This movement is just like walking, but at a faster speed (running)
Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? It is important for students to understand the correct answer for movement concepts.
Understanding movement concepts will help them during game play and fitness games in the following
years.
Use of data:
I will use the data collected to monitor individual progress. If I see that some students need help
understanding certain movement concepts, then I can work with them one-on-one to make sure they
understand the differences between various movement concepts.

Describe what will occur after the SRS activity:

After the activity, we will discuss the answers as a class. I will read the question, a student will answer, and
they will demonstrate the movement concept.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
This activity gave me insight on how I can assess students in the gymnasium. P.E. assessments do not
always have to be observations and skill rubrics, especially for lower grade levels. At younger ages, it is
important for students to fully understand basic movement concepts, and using student response tools will
help me assess who needs more review.
