normshavetobecompliantwiththeregulations.

WhatIsBS?

Bharatstageemissionstandards areemissionstandardsinstitutedbytheGovernment
ofIndiatoregulatetheoutputofairpollutantsfrominternalcombustionenginesandSpark
ignitionenginesequipment,includingmotorvehicles.Thestandardsandthetimelinefor
implementationaresetbytheCentralPollutionControlBoardundertheMinistryof
Environment&Forestsandclimatechange.

FirstBSIIIrulewasintroducedin 2005 andwasimplementedin15citiesoverallandby

10 2010thenationwideimplementationofBSIIIvehicleswascompleted.
Like BSIV for13metrocitieswasintroducedinApril2010andthenationwideimplementationis
alsonowcompletedwitSupremeCourtbanningthesaleofallBSIIIvehiclesstartingApril1,
2017.

Bs4meansa'catalyticconverter'isamandatoryadditiontotheexhaustsystem

ThenationwiderolloutofBSIVsufferedadelayduetolackofavailabilityofBSIV
compliantfuel.Oilmakershadtomakethenecessaryinvestmenttomanufacture50ppm
ultralowsulfurrequiredtosupportBSIVnorms.
