Procedure to Upgrade the Transmission Wiring Group on Certain 793F

Off-Highway Trucks{1408, 3030, 3104, 3260}
SMCS - 1408; 3030; 3104; 3260

Off-Highway Truck/Tractor:
793F (S/N: SND1-131; SSP1-1060; RBT1-171)

Introduction
The following instructions provide the needed information to upgrade the transmission wiring group on 793F (S/N:
SND1-131; SSP1-1060; RBT1-171).

A section for each serial number prefix is below.

Safety

Personal injury or death can result from machine movement.

Place blocks in front of and behind the wheels to make sure the machine
does not move while the parking brakes are disengaged.

Do not check for leaks with your hands. Pin hole (very small) leaks can
result in a high velocity oil stream that will be invisible close to the hose.
This oil can penetrate the skin and cause personal injury. Use
cardboard or paper to locate pin hole leaks.

NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool

Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Prepare the Machine

Note: Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep
other personnel in the sight of the operator.

1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any
personnel.

2. Move the transmission control to the P position.

3. Stop the engine.

4. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

5. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8406, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
