1 Where is Microwaves products placed?

Microwave Radio Systems are the right solution for both Trunk Network applications
and the infrastructure network application supporting the mobile networks, but also
for the last mile Access Network.

In trunk networks, SDH Microwave systems provide efficient solutions for back up to
optical fiber backbones (medium diversity) and are an economical alternative for high
to medium traffic capacity (NxSTM-1 or below).

In access networks, to give direct access to business customers in urban and

suburban areas, Microwave systems are conveniently deployed for medium capacity
(STM-1) and for optical ring closure (STM-1/STM-4) with a very flexible and fast to
deploy solution.

Ease of deployment and short installation time make Microwave by far the preferred
solution for mobile networks, where it is extensively used to interconnect the
UMTS/GSM/DCS cellular infrastructure; Siemens Microwave System are the best
answer to this need, thanks to their flexibility in terms of frequency, capacity and
configuration.

2 Access/Mobile
A complete array of digital radio systems, covering the whole microwave spectrum, is
included in the Siemens portfolio to satisfy all low to medium capacity needs.
Solutions are available for urban and rural applications, with systems specifically
designed to meet mobile operators and new access providers requirements, like SRA
L (PDH system) and Skyweb (LMDS).
Furthermore Skyweb, based on an ATM technology, is a multiservice wireless
platform able to satisfy all the needs of mobile operators, providing future proof
infrastructure for Mobile/Fixed convergence.
Moreover STM-1 split system SRA Series 3 represents a cost effective solution for
Metropolitan and Wide Area Networks, and the right answer to the fast increase of
bandwidth demand.
Dynamic bandwidth assignment and statistical multiplexing allow sharing the radio
medium among several hundreds of terminals, with substantial economic benefits
and considerable environmental impact's reduction.

partner to support the operator in this challenge.
Netviewer
The Microwave Management system NetViewer is a new versatile TMN product for
the management of PDH, SDH and Point to Multipoint Microwave systems, able to
supervise as well other vendor's devices through a standard SNMP interface. An
overall view of the complete network structure and its ability to enter down to the
Network Element details give a clear picture of the whole network, its configuration
and events. Fault, Configuration and Performance management are carried out at
Network Element level; at network level Fault and Security configuration are
available. NetViewer can be easily integrated both in Siemens SDH TMN platform
(TNMS) and in Mobile TMN platform (Radio Commander) in order to offer to the
operator a unique interface for management purposes.
