Dear Selection Committee,

I am writing this letter to give my highest possible recommendation for Mr.

Suvayu Chakraborty. I know Mr. Suvayu from May13 when he joined my
team as a Product Manager in liabilities product team in HDFC Bank
(Largest Private bank in India, with a brand value of $14.4 billion, HDFC
bank is the most valued brand in India) post completion of his Master of
Business Administration (MBA).
At our first meeting I described the general outline of the project the he
might work on. He asked good questions and appeared intelligent. He
then started interacting with other team members to learn the process of
functioning and started gaining all the knowledge of liability product
management. He did this independently - I did not ask him to do this. I
learned that he had done this at our second meeting, and I was quite
impressed at his motivation and independence.
During that summer, Mr. Suvayu demonstrated the ability to work
independently with great creativity and enthusiasm. He also put in many
long hours. I teamed him with other colleagues to work on a project
involving analytics and data interpretation. The project included data
analysis to finding out the past trends and designing predictive model for
the liabilities product management performance for the organization. Mr.
Suvayu excelled in each one of these areas. His interpersonal skills were
excellent. He dealt with every work very professionally and delivered
before time. Sometimes these analytical works required long days due to
the extensive size of data to be analysed. He possesses a great
knowledge on the analytical tools used for data analytics. He was usually
the first one in my team to reach in the morning, which is a sign of
punctually and discipline from his end.
The other team members working with Mr. Suvayu commented favourably
about working with him. They said Mr. Suvayu got along well with
everyone, pulled his own weight on the project, and had the ability to
compromise with other team members. One incident illustrates this point.
There is a staff member in an adjoining team that is a rather prickly
person who has had many problems with other staffs in the past. Mr.
Suvayu had to interact with this person in order to get his project done.
Mr. Suvayu was able to find a common interest with this staff person,
which was photography, and build a rapport based on this mutual interest.
At the end of the summer the staff person noted what a pleasure it was to
work with Mr. Suvayu.
Mr. Suvayu also volunteered to help others in the projects. One of the
team members was doing a project on developing a trend based
calculator to predict the performance of the business, and it required
special skills on SQL coding Mr. Mr. Suvayu volunteered to help on the
skills required to develop such tool. I asked the project head of that
project about him, and he commented that Mr. Suvayu has excellent
coding and analytical skills.
I was especially taken by Mr. Suvayus creative mind and independent
work ethics. He continued to learn the business processes independently
and generate interesting hypotheses. He used to research and present
information with new insights. I remember one incident, I was thinking of
developing one offline portal for the liabilities sourcing channel, where we
will disseminate all the relevant information for the channel which the
channel can use a ready reference. On the very next day he has shown
me the entire thing I as per my expectation, which proves his ability to
visualize and execution. Mr. Suvayu also showed remarkable problem
solving ability. Before the business reviews and presentation he used to
stay long hours for deriving insightful results through research and
analytics. He has been rated as outstanding performer in HDFC Bank for
his contribution to works.

This illustrates his high level of motivation. In summary, Mr. Suvayu is

clearly the one of the best subordinate I have worked with in the last 10
years. Currently he is doing outstanding jobs in the domain of digital
strategy for business process re-engineering in Kotak Mahindra Bank in
India. I think he would be an outstanding asset to your Phd program for his
outstanding analytical, creative and research skills. I give him my highest
recommendation.

Sincerely,
Sushant Parakh
