Prerequisite for this Release (Products)

AVEVA Licensing
AVEVA Licensing 2.0.0 or later and an appropriate License File.
Notes:
1. AVEVA Everything3D does NOT work with AVEVA Flexman.
2. If upgrading from AVEVA Licensing System 1.1.1, please install Fix release 1.1.1.3 in order to correct
an uninstall defect in that release. Once this has been done version 1.1.1.3 can be uninstalled and
replaced with later versions.

AVEVA Client Cache Service

To ensure the performance benefits presented by the AVEVA Cache Service, which is installed with
AVEVA Everything3D, Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) must be enabled. This is achieved using
the Windows Components feature of Windows Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
For full details, please refer to the AVEVA Everything3D 2.1.0 Installation Guide or as guided by
AVEVA Support Staff.

Microsoft Software
Everything3D 2.1.0 has been verified with Microsoft Office 365.
Microsoft Office 2010 (and later) is required for some functions:
1. Optimum operation of the AVEVA Design Platform GUI requires Arial Unicode MS font, supplied
with Microsoft Office and also with Microsoft Office Visio.
2. Microsoft Office Excel import requires .NET Programmability Support enabled when Office is
installed. This can be found under Advanced customization of applications and installs the
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll; without this, Excel import will not work.
Microsoft Office Visio 2010 (Standard edition, 32-bit) is required for AVEVA Schematic Model Viewer.

setup.exe file is started.

d52421 27-Nov-15 Copyright 2015 AVEVA Solutions Limited Page 3 of 7

Product Release Letter
Installations using setup.exe will install in C:\Program Files (x86)\AVEVA\Everything3D2.10 by default. The
individual .msi files will use the drive with most free space by default.
It is important that any files, including configuration files or sample data, that need to be updated by users
are accessible for read, write etc. so they are not by default installed with the software. This is particularly
important when installing in Program Files due to the introduction of User Account Control (UAC). In
particular, this makes it important to ensure that files that need to be written are accessible by users
without Administrator privileges. This applies to folders specified by environment variables such as
AVEVA_DESIGN_WORK and AVEVA_DESIGN_USER. The AVEVA Everything3D installer has been designed
to allow the separate definition of suitable folders, with different defaults.
Please Note:
It is not recommended that any combination of AVEVA products are installed in the same folder because AVEVA does
not guarantee runtime compatibility between Separate Products on different release cycles, and the uninstall of one
of them subsequently damaging the other.

Sample Data
Sample projects are available here: AVEVA Everything3D - Projects or as provided via a Beta release DVD.
The AVEVA sample projects are regularly revised. Please check the AVEVA Support Site (AVEVA
Everything3D Fix Release History) frequently for updates.

Exceptions Significant Defects and Recommended Workarounds

AVEVA intends to fix the defects listed below in a fix release or service pack as soon as reasonably possible.

AVEVA Bocad Steel Interface is not included in the first release of AVEVA E3D 2.1.0. On clicking the
AVEVA Bocad Steel buttons in the Import and Export groups of the Tools tab an error message is
presented.

AVEVA SDNF Interface is not currently aligned with new AVEVA E3D 2.1 Structural Catalogue and the
usage of GENSECs (only) for linear structural elements.

Pipe Fabrication utilities are not included in the first release of AVEVA E3D 2.1.0. Functions linked to
Pipe Fabrication are displayed in the user interface but are greyed out.

Search (TFS-176965). A search under the World element with element Type set to [ALL] and the free
filter expression set to not(unset(description) has a negative performance impact. It is recommended
that such searches are avoided.

Laser. The Box and Cylinder primitives (only) are fully compatible with the Highlight and Mask laser data
features. The Box primitive (only) is fully compatible with the forming of a Demolition package volume.

Supports (TFS-183921). It is not currently possible to set the Support joint justification to a Pline of the
Column.

3D View Selection (TFS-174778). Pipes with no component cannot be selected via a window selection in
the 3D View.

PML. The textual form of expressions containing a mix of /, * do not always have sufficient brackets to
maintain the meaning of the expression e.g. (10 * 2 / (5 *2)) is output as (10 * 2 / 5 *2). If the output is

d52421 27-Nov-15 Copyright 2015 AVEVA Solutions Limited Page 6 of 7

Product Release Letter
re-entered (e.g. via Datal file) then the result of the expression will be incorrect, in the example case it
would evaluate to 8 rather than 2. It should be noted that it is only the textual output which is affected.
All database expression are evaluated correctly.

SLH (TFS-186751). Stair Flights with a Landing and using an Initial Rise configuration - on modifying a
Stair Flight with this configuration, the landing level will move up one rise when the Modify Stair Flight
form is opened. This discrepancy must be reset in the Extensions and Landings page of the Modify Stair
Flight form before progressing.

SLH (TFS-173027). In a number of scenarios the pitch for Initial Rise configuration Stair Flights will
present an Amber warning (indicating it does not meet the optimum pitch defined by the default). This
warning is erroneous due to the pitch value not being rounded to an absolute value e.g. taking a default
value of 630mm and the calculated value presenting Amber due to being 630.12mm). The warning is
rectified in Detail mode on reselecting the desired pitch in the Pitch Validation area of the Create Stair
Flight form

SLH (TFS-186456). On progressing an Initial Rise Stairs to Detail Mode, the tread overlap is not applied
i.e. the edges of the Panels are in line with the edge of the tread below. The Panels need to be modified
manually to introduce the desired tread overlap.

SLH (TFS-186886). When modelling a Stair Flight using a Default where the pitch validation rather than
the angle is used to calculate the Stair, a warning message is displayed when picking the required
configuration for a landing (a landing could not be added to the selected configuration). This warning is
erroneous and may be ignored. The landing can be created.

Draw (TFS-178445). The 3D View in Draw does not currently respect an applied View rotation angle. The
Edit in 3D View button is disabled where a View Rotation angle is not equal to zero.

Sample Code (TFS-186028). C# and PML Sample Code referred to in the .Net Customisation User Guide
is not included in the first release of AVEVA E3D 2.1. If this code is immediately required please submit
an AVEVA Support Incident.

Interoperability with AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting 12.1.SP4.

Status Control. Alignment of improvements in Status Control at AVEVA E3D 2.1 will also be made in
AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting 12.1.SP4 to ensure customers running the two products on the same
project are able to maintain identical Status Control implementations. Currently, on encountering User
Defined Type Groups in AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting 12.1.SP4 the output is displayed as unknown.

Hull Projects. Spaces in Project pathnames should be avoided for AVEVA Marine (Hull) 12.1.SP4 data
being used within AVEVA E3D 2.1.

AVEVA Global. All extract database FLUSH and ISSUE commands must be undertaken from within
AVEVA E3D 2.1 when accessing a globalised project with both AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting 12.1.SP4
and AVEVA E3D 2.1 operating on the same Database. Note: Good practice is to keep databases used by
AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting 12.1.SP4 and AVEVA E3D 2.1 separate.

Supports (TFS-185696). The orientation of Pad Eyes is incorrect within AVEVA PDMS / Hull & Outfitting
12.1.SP4 on being created in AVEVA E3D 2.1.

For the latest list of exceptions and other updates, please see the Product Release Latest Update Note on
AVEVA's support web site http://downloads.aveva.com/52421/w52421.pdf.
