SYSTEM OUTLINE
SYSTEM OUTLINE
Remote PIMs can be installed separately at the distance in one building, or between the offices via the Pub-
lic Switching Telephone Network (PSTN).
The customers in Remote Site can use the same service features as in Main Site.
Remote PIMs are connected to the Main Site by T1 (1.5 Mbps)/E1 (2 Mbps) digital interface.

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL INFORMATION
NUMBER OF PIM AND CHANNEL FOR LT PORT
The system realizes the accommodation of lines/trunks on the Remote PIM by operating the DAIA/DAID
card as FP card.
When using the PN-DAIA-A/DAID-A card, the following assignment is available by the system data pro-
gramming.
FP No. Assignment (By the switch setting on the card and CM05 Y=0)
FP No. 01, 02, 03, 16, 17, 18, 19 can be assigned to each FP/DAIA/DAID card.
(The FP No. 00 is exclusively used for the MP built-in FP on the Main Site.)
Kind of Card Assignment (By CM05 Y=5)
The kind of the card (whether FP or DAIA/DAID) is assigned for each FP No.
Type of FP Assignment (By CM05 Y=6)
The type of FP (MP built-in FP or FP/DAIA/DAID card) is assigned for each FP No.
Highway No. and Number of Channel Assignment (By CM05 Y=2)
The LT Highway No. 0-3 and the number of LT Highway channels can be assigned for each FP No.
PIM No. Assignment (By CM05 Y=4)
The PIM No. controlled by the FP/DAIA/DAID card can be assigned for each FP No.
By the above settings, the LT Highway can be shared between the FP/DAIA/DAID cards, and a maximum
of six Remote PIMs can be provided.
The relationship between the FP No. and the LT Highway No. are as follows;
FP No. 00, 16: Highway No. 0; 128 channels (can be shared by FP/DAIA/DAID)
(FP No. 00 is fixed to the MP built-in FP on Main Site)
FP No. 01, 17: Highway No. 1; 128 channels (can be shared by FP/DAIA/DAID)
FP No. 02, 18: Highway No. 2; 128 channels (can be shared by FP/DAIA/DAID)
FP No. 03, 19: Highway No. 3; 128 channels (can be shared by FP/DAIA/DAID)

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL INFORMATION
SYSTEM CONDITIONS
SYSTEM CONDITIONS
Only one PIM configuration is available at Remote Site.
Remote PIM can be installed at a maximum of 400 m (1312 ft.) distance from Main Site.
Using the Optical Fiber Interface card (PN-M10) or line extension equipment (Repeater, MUX, etc.),
the distance can be extended.
At Remote Site, the Line/Trunk cards except the ILC card can be used. DSS console cannot be used
at Remote Site.
For North America, the CSI card for wireless system cannot be used at Remote Site according to
UTAM regulation.
The Application Processor cards cannot be used at Remote Site. When you provide the CSI card to
the Remote Site, the CSH card must be installed on Main Site.
Only the following station/trunk can be accommodated on Remote Site by CM14 system data pro-
gramming.
Single Line Telephone
Dterm
Trunk (COT/DIT/LDT/ODT)
CS/ZT
For Remote PIM System, the installation procedures for modules, circuit cards and peripheral equip-
ment are the same as those for the regular system, except the DAIA/DAIB/DAIC/DAID/DAIE/
DAIF cards installation and the BUS cable connection.
Refer to the Installation Procedure Manual for detailed information.
When the link between Main Site and Remote Site has been lost due to Power Failure or PCM Frame
Loss, the system activates the Power Failure Transfer (PFT) automatically on Remote Site, if provid-
ed.
The Resident System Programming cannot be set to Remote Site while Main Site can be set.
If COTB card is mounted in Remote PIM, the T1 link between Main and Remote Sites must be con-
figured as 64 Kbps with ESF and B8ZS.

System Data Backup
CAUTION
If you operate the following without system data backup after system data setting or service
memory setting (registration of the features such as Call Forwarding and Speed Calling
[Speed Dialing] from a station), the data has been set is invalid.
You must execute the system data backup before the following operations.
-Turning Off the system
-System Initial (reset of MP card)
-Changing the MP card to Off-Line Mode
-Changing the MP card to On-Line Mode after system data setting under Off-Line Mode
You can execute the system data backup by the following two ways.
-Executing the system data backup once a day at the time set by CM43 Y=5>00
(If no data is set, the default setting is 3:00 a.m.)
-Executing the system data backup from MAT/CAT by CMEC Y=6>0:0
Do not reset the MP card, while SYSD lamp on the MP card is flashing.
