History

Potis Was Founded around a archipelago in a large well protected bay. The
City stone coved the bay and much of the banks of the region. Potis however grew
rapidly, and lacked room on the Islands to support housing let alone the Industry
that became the lifeblood of Potis. Counselor Macius known as the demagogue
or the builder used large dredges and gravel donated by the ballast of many ship
to create artificial land between the islands. The Cost of such a venture bankrupted
the state and due to missteps he was murdered by his detractors. Over Time this
Artifical islands grew and became housing for the lower classes of the city.

Industry

Potis is the center of quite a few enterprises that makes it an important trade
hub. First of which is salt production. The most common way in the city is taking
sea water and putting it in shallow pools and letting it dry sweeping up the remains
and bagging it. Most of the salt is used in food preservation with the remainder
being used for trade with the other cities. The city as a result of the bounty of sea
and salt produces many preserved fish and kelp for trade with other cites.

The Pens

Most cites have some method to ensure the destitute of the city do not starve
Potis is no exception. Consular Leofwine the pious commissioned a genius structure
in the shallow waters near the docks. He ringed a 10 acre area in a stone grid with
gabs 1ft wide to allow small fish to enter the to pool while keeping away dangerous
predators. To ensure the small fish enter the city buys the fish waste from
fishermen and dumps in the pens. This ensures the poor and old can easily gather
enough food to survive as long as the waste is dumped into the pens.
