Procedure
Introduction (20 min)
Hook: Today is the 2nd day of your mime unit. This is a short class, as we have a lot to go
through. We are going to spend some time reviewing what we did before the break. We will
be getting to know a few more basics like entering and exiting rooms.
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: Who remembers what we did last class? (review last class)
Character walks. Waiter game (very busy restaurant, holding plate of spaghetti and dont
want to drop it)

Body (40 min)
Method:

Part 1:

Pick a Posy
Walking through a flower garden, find a flower, pick it, hold it by the stem, smell the flower
(big sniff), sneeze, pick a petal, drop the flower, follow its path down and watch it land.
Remember to use our 3Cs when picking up your flower. For this game it is very important the
students are in their private studio

What skills are we learning in this game? How will this help us later?

Entering and exiting rooms (doors and windows). Demonstrate how to keep consistency with
doors and windows. Use the three Cs and R to demonstrate, show improper way and proper
way. Do this while in a circle. (find mark on the floor to mark your door spot). (10-15 min)

Part 2:
Introduce assignment and assign groups (8 groups of 3-4). Go over the assignment details,
story line, requirements, sound, tableau, rubric meanings. Give groups time to meet up and
start discussing their project. Keep the story simple, (bad chef- fly, sneezes and hair in soup).
Bad things in threes. (15-17 min)

Closure (3 min)
Refocus: Great job today everyone! We will be continuing this unit next class We will be
