Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: MGSEK.G.2 Correctly name shapes
regardless of their orientations or overall size.
Brief Description of Learning Experience:
At the beginning of this blog, the teacher will assign the students an at home project. The teacher will
post a blog for the students to post in. The student will be completing a project over shapes. They are to go
with their parents around their neighborhood/town and name the shapes they see. They will take a picture of
the shapes they see. The learning standards that will be addressed is correctly naming shapes regardless of
its size.
Next, the patents will assist the students in posting a picture on the blog of some of the shapes they
found. During this assignment the teacher will be looking for shapes the student identifies. This provides
explicit communication as well between the parents and teacher. This should take maybe two hours to
complete. The audience for this assignment is the classroom. Materials needed for this assignment include a
camera and a computer.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):

LoTi 3 best describes this learning experience. The students are working with their parents outside of the
classroom. They have to capture pictures of shapes and post these onto a classroom blog. Therefore, they
dont have a choice of who they are working with. They do have a choice of what shapes they are taking a
picture of.

Importance of technology:
By using a website-creation tool, it allows the student to post their images for the class to see on the
blog. This project could not be completed without technology. The students/parents have to have access to
the blog on a computer. The images of the shapes for everyone to see would be lost without using it. The
other type of technology is the camera/phone used to take pictures of the shapes.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Students will be provided with a link for the blog. This provides safety so that the students arent
wondering around in the internet. Safety is also provided by the parent working with the student. The
student isnt going to the blog by themselves. Their parents are helping them; therefore, the student is being
monitored outside the classroom still. This will eliminate the fears of the teacher and parents. Students and
parents will follow the policies of internet safety through this at home project.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
During this activity, I am trying more involvement between the parent and students. I hope that the
students learn more about shapes through this project no matter what size it may be. I hope through posting
the images on the classroom blog that it will allow to the students to see other images and become more
familiar.
