Article Assignment #6

Adoption is Not a Game

In this essay, I will argue that Moses first adoptive parents should not be put in

jail, mainly due to the fact that I dont believe people should be punished for wanting to

escape their current situation, and everything was for the best of the child.

I believe that Moses parents biggest mistake was not seeking professional help

to rehome their child, but I dont really blame them for sending Moses away. Since he

was just a toddler, Moses showed violent behavior, so I understand that the parents

would be willing to rehome him for the safety of their other children and themselves.

Also, it wasnt really easy for the family to send him away. It was a really difficult

decision for them to make, so they wouldnt have done it if they truly believed that it was

the only solution. Their mistake was the way that they sent him away. They didnt really

think that anything was wrong with it, since no one was getting hurt. Even Moses

himself says that he doesnt remember that well, so I dont believe that the event

negatively affected them. I do believe, however, that if he wouldve stayed with his

previous family that he would not have had the life he ended up having, since the family

would maybe begin to resent him.

In conclusion, Moses parents biggest mistake was the way they handled the

readoption. They should have hired someone professionally to take care of the delicate

situation, instead of taking matters into their own hands.
