Outcome # 4: Analyze multi-dimensional aspects and processes of transformation and social change in
social movements with special reference to Canadian society.

Objectives
Explain the key concepts of processes of transformation through social change and social movements.
Employ multiple strategies of social change and social movements in Canadian society.
Explain different dimensions of social change and social movements.
Apply theoretical perspectives on social change process with special reference to Canadian society.

Condition # 1: Individual Analytical Paper on Social Movement Case - 25%


Each student should write a research paper on one selected Canadian social movement in the past, an overall
analysis and evaluation of three stages - beginning, middle and termination.
Each social movement can be assessed based on any five given main contents or dimensions or variables
(during the above-mentioned three stages) i.e. concept and relationship of social change for particular cause in
Canadian society, alternative actions taken to get results, vision of social movement, challenges given by
movement, causes of social action or movement, sources of funds or stakeholders of movement, criteria for
selection of a particular segment of society by organizers (if any), motivational activities or actions,
organizational structure, problems encountered, outcome of efforts and what is special about the particular
social movement.

Evaluation criteria:
The performance will be successful when:
The research paper includes at least 4 pages (12-point font size and double space).
The research paper demonstrates an analysis and evaluation of their chosen topic.
The research paper includes at least five overall mentioned aspects or dimensions of social movements on
social segments of Canadian population.
The research paper is well-structured.
Performance will be successful when there are no grammar/spelling errors.
The paper should be done as an individual activity.
Student should find out at least three main resources regarding chosen particular social movement for an
overall study.
Student may also contact directly social or civil society organizations for gathering data.
Students should provide their own proposed social movement in week 8 and after getting comments from
teacher student should write a list of bibliographical sources at week 10.
The first crude draft of the paper should be submitted in week 9 and the final draft is due in week 13.
Student should choose a specific social movement other than group research paper or self-reflection-field study
as their case study.
All references or citations should be in APA style.
