SUR - OFFERING

Homage to the Lama!

A yogi who wishes to practice the sur (burned)-offering should take as its ingredients the
three white and the three sweet substances, various medical herbs, grains, silks, etc., mix
them with barley flour and singe it on burned glowing embers in a container which is not
of iron or any other hard metal.

Take refuge and develope bodhicitta, then:

OM SVABHAWA SHUDDHA SARVA DHARMA SVABHAWA SHUDDHO HANG

From within emptiness arises sur-smoke of the nature of the five sense pleasures existing
of divine substances, and in essence undefiled and inexhaustible wisdom-nectar, [vast]
like the expanse of space.

OM AH HUNG three times

BADZRA SAPARANA KHAM OM AH HUNG HRI GURU DEVA DAKINI SARVA

BUDDHA BODHISATTVA SAMAYA DZA JNYANA DZVALA RAM IMAM
BALINGTA KHA KHA KHAHI KHAHI

To the Three Roots and the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Dharma-protectors amidst of
wisdom-flames, I offer this fire offering of the five sense pleasures - please accept it with
love.

Hence may our diseases, evil spirits, sins, obscurations and adverse forces
SARVA SHANTIM KURUYE SVAHA (be pacified).

May also all, lifespan, merit, glory and wealth

PUSHTING KURU OM (increase).

May gods and demons, humans, food and wealth be gathered [under our power]
WASHYANG KURU HO.

May all misleading [forces] that cannot be tamed in peaceful ways be subdued
MARAYA HUNG PHAT.

I prostrate to the Bhagavan Dribpa Nampar Selwa.

At the time of my death, may no bad circumstances of dying or [intense suffering] during
the dying process occur, but let death arise as the path of Clear Light, [enlightenment
into] Dharmakaya.

NAMA SURU PHUBHAYE SVAHA ADHI PATI SVAHA IMAM BALINGTA KHA
KHA KHAHI KHAHI

I offer to the ghandarva-kings Rabga and Surphunga and so on, and especially to all kinds
of ghandarvas.

OM AKARO MUKHAM SARVA DHARMA NAM ADYAN UTPANA TVATA OM

AH HUNG PHAT SVAHA [recite] three times as blessing.

I offer to all Dzambuling's lokapalas in general, and in particular to the eight groups of
gods and nagas, and the local spirits who roam and dwell in our region.

OM HASA BHADRA SURU PHUBHA SVAHA [recite]three or seven [times].

I dedicate it to the sentient beings of the world who yesterday or recently died, were
killed, or killed themselves etc., who lost their former bodies and not yet obtained the
following one, wander in the bardo, and feed on smells and sur-[offerings].
Furthermore, headed by my parents, I dedicate it to all living beings subsumed in the six
classes of beings, the five paths, and the four ways of birth.

May the bardo-beings be freed from hunger and thirst, terror and fear, and the dreadful
abysses, and may the confusions of their negative karma cease.
May they remember the instructions of their Lamas, recognize the bardo, and through
relying on the Yidam-visualization get enlightened during bardo into the Samboghakaya.
May all beings, too be liberated from samsara and quickly attain the state of omniscience.

NAMO RATNA TRAYAYA OM KAMKANI KAMKANI ROTSANI ROTSANI

TROTANI TROTANI TRASANI TRASANI PRATIHANA PRATIHANA SARVA
KARMA PARAMPARANIME SARVA SATTVA NANTSA SVAHA
Thus recite the [mantra of] the root family.

By this merit, may the three realms beings and the deceased wandering in the bardo
refrain from taking birth in the lower realms, but attain the happiness of the higher
realms.

In the east-direction, in the [Buddhafield] of 'Complete Joy', dwells the Buddha

Akshobya - may all those who utter his name be reborn in this pure land.
Thus do the dedication-prayers.
