3.4. Staffing allocation has been received for next year, but staff have not had opportunity yet to discuss
options
3.4.1. Mrs. Frost will solicit parent input once staff have had an opportunity to review options
3.4.2. Reduced student population due to shift of Grade 6 classes will mean reduction in staffing levels
and loss of VP allocation
3.5. Outdoor classroom:
3.5.1. Sarah connected with the Principal at Highland Middle School
3.5.1.1. Students are building outdoor furniture and Cliffwood has requested a couple of benches +
chess table
3.5.2. QUESTION: Where will the classroom be?
3.5.2.1. Location has not been decided yet. Administration would like staff and parent input on
purpose/use and location preferences before submitting a proposal to TDSB. Requires a design
consultation from TDSB before it can be finalized.
3.6. Graduation Ceremonies:
3.6.1. Mon Jun 26 for G5 + Extended French
3.6.2. Tues Jun 27 for G 5/6 French Immersion
3.7. Book Fair will be during 1st week of May
3.8. Girls Volleyball made it to second round of playoffs
3.9. Beginning tryouts for co-ed volleyball
3.10. Badminton has started
3.11. Ball Hockey club first meeting (Grade 5-6)
3.12. Music club has started playing ukuleles
3.13. G6 students being recruited to help in library
3.14. Pink Day (Anti-Bullying awareness) April 12

4. Treasurer's Report
4.1. Dance-a-thon update
4.1.1. Funds raised: $10,743 net
4.1.2. Update to outdoor equipment request
4.1.2.1. Purpose, size, and location of outdoor classroom will affect cost. Research underway to
bring back options for consideration by School Council
4.1.2.2. ACTION: Melanie/Colin Ryckman to research outdoor classroom configurations/costs at
neighbouring schools.
4.1.3. Motion to purchase bike racks and planters
4.1.3.1. Bike racks range from $584 to $2,000 holding 8-18 bikes depending on the model. Unsure
yet where they will be located. Request to set aside funds up to a certain amount while
options identified. Would start with 1 bike rack and see how much it's used.

4.1.3.1.1. DECISION: Colin Ryckman moves to allocate up to $1000 towards the purchase and
installation of a bike rack. Paul Kang seconds. Motion is carried
4.1.3.2. Planters: Colin Ryckman and Mrs. Woodland looked into planter costs. The original
request had been to 3 planters. Proposal for 6 planters given that they would used to
support curriculum for SK, G1, G3. Each planter is approx.. 8ftx8ft
4.1.3.2.1. QUESTION: Any concerns with drainage or weight of large planters on pavement?
4.1.3.2.1.1. ACTION: Sarah Frost to investigate any issues with locating planters in
interior courtyard
4.1.3.2.2. DECISION: Colin Ryckman moves to allocate up to $1500 towards the purchase of 6
planters, and supporting tools, and consumables (seeds/dirt). Esther Chung seconds.
Motion is carried.
4.1.3.2.3. Request to try and get planters in time for planting in Spring
4.2. Request from teachers to replace one dead printer that is shared by upstairs classrooms.
4.2.1. QUESTION: Does the school have budget to purchase this?
4.2.1.1. Yes, but would help with purchase of supplies not allowed to School Council
4.2.2. DECISION: Eric Fung moves to allocate up to $200 to replace the broken printer upstairs. Paul
Kang seconds. Motion carried.
4.3. Proposed changes to Pizza Lunch & Sub Lunch for 2017-2018
4.3.1. Date selection options
4.3.1.1. Heavy administrative cost to allow parents to pick and choose dates
4.3.1.2. Without additional parent volunteer support, proposal is to make it all-or-nothing
4.3.1.3. ACTION: Melanie/Colin Ryckman to assess date selection patterns, discuss with school
administration and come back next month with a recommendation whether to go to all or
nothing, or find efficiencies to improve administration of date selections for lunch
programs
4.3.2. Elimination of snack due to morning meal program
4.3.2.1. With current morning meal program, recommendation is to eliminate snacks and reduce
costs.
4.3.2.2. DECISION: Snacks in pizza/sub lunches will be removed next year
4.4. Milk program will be discontinued for 2017-2018 due to lack of volunteers to organize/run the
program
4.5. Request for teacher input if having Cliffwood apparel for field trips would be supported
4.5.1. ACTION: Sarah Frost to discuss with staff about interest in using Cliffwood apparel for fieldtrips
4.6. Silent Auction update
4.6.1. 26 items promised, with total value of $1800 so far
4.6.2. Hoping to run it May 1st during Book Fair. Logistics still being worked out.
