1. General

1.1. General description

The specification and general arrangement drawings describe projected 24m pelagic trawler for baltic
sea and gulf of bothnia.
The vessel is indended for pelagic trawl catching of baltic herring and other fish-species in the waters
of northern Baltic Sea and Gulf of Bothnia. The vessel is designed to operate in severe winter
conditions as well as in temperature above +25C.
The design to fulfil international and national rules and regulations for fishing vessels trading in baltic
sea and north sea.

1.2. Design and drawing material

Buyer will deliver Basic-design material and drawings. Further detail design as well as final hull design
will be carried out in close co-operation with building yard.
Buyer will carry out plan approval at classification society and national authorities.

1.4. Hold and cargo tank capacities

The vessel is equipped with 6 pcs of RSW tanks.

1.6. Classification

Hull scantlings according to IACS classification society, drawing approval and Finnish-Swedish Ice
Class Rules for Ice Class 1 B. Drawing approval will be carried out by buyer.
Supervision according to Finnish Maritime Administration, stability according to IMO rules for fishing
vessels and Svenska Sjfartsverket.

1.7. Guarantees

The yard guarantee for 12 months for bad or faulty materials, faulty constructions or insuffient works.
If, minor commencement of the actual work, in the specification or on the drawings should be minor
particulars and/or equipment omitted, which is natural for a vessel of this type and this delivery, this
shall be delivered from the yard without extra costs for the buyer.

2. Hull

2.1. Hull materials, general work

The hull is of all welded construction according to the requirements of Classification Society.
Double continuos welding is used in tanks, in engine room, in cofferdams, in cargo area, in wet spaces
and on exposed steel constructions.
The hull has bulbous bow and one bow-thruster tunnel.
Double bottom height is 1000 mm.

2.2. Deck loads

Deck loads according to class requirements and according to installation of heavier equipment.

2.3. Superstructure, deckhouse

Deckhouse to be of all welded construction in sea-water resistant aluminium.

2.4. Cargo area

The vessel is to be built with 6 RSW-tanks.(see GA-drw) All tanks to be garnished in bottom, sides,
engine room- and front RSW-bukkheads. Tank trunk on main deck also to be garnished as well as
hatch covers for tanks.
Corrugated bulkheads longitudinal and transverse, as indictaed on GA-plan.
All slot welds and welds on garnish in tanks to be filled completely with weld and to be flush grinded.

2.5. Hull outfitting

Forward and aft to be welded draught marks on both sides.


Vessels name to be welded and painted in the aft on both sides.
The vessels fishery number as well as owners marks and marks showing locations of thrusters and
electronic underwater equipment to be made of plate and painted.

Necessary sea-chests in engine room and in thruster room(for RSW-system) to be arranged. Air pipes
are to be arranged.

2.6. Engine room layout

Engine room layout shall be made as clear as possible and amout of piping to be minimized.
Electrical motors not to be installed in bilge spaces. Following tanks shall be placed in engine room or
with access from engine room.
Daily service tank for fuel oil
Lubrication oil tanks
Gear oil tank
Sterntube oil tank
Sludge tank
Dirty oil tank

Final layout drawings will be delivered by buyer.

3. Equipment for cargo and fishery

3.1. Hatches and doors

Were nothing further is specified, hatch covers to be made of sea water resistant aluminium. Acid
resistant steel to be used in movable parts in hatches and securing devices.

3.1.1. Hatch covers for cargo on shelter deck

Trunk and hatches to cargo room and RSW tanks to be garnished. 6 hatches for RSW appr 1300 x
1300 mm. Fixed ladders to tank top to be mounted.

3.1.2. Smaller hatches, emergency hatches, manholes

To workskshop from deck and from workshop to engine room hatches appr, 1000 x 1000 mm. On
main deck one hatch in forward part for access to thruster room appr 800x800 mm.
Emergency escape from main deck to shelter deck appr 600x600 mm as well as from winch room to
main deck.
All tanks equipped with manholes with hatches as far as possible.

3.2. Masts, derricks and rigs

3.2.1. Signal mast


Forward signal mast for lanterns to be installed. Mast to be strenghtened for possibility to install fish
lifting block and to avoid vibrations.
Mast to be built with steps.

3.2.2. Trawl gallow

Trawlgallow to be built in aft part according to drawings which will be delivered by buyer.
Trawlgallow to be dimensioned for :
4 x trawl blocks, 25 t SWL each
Foundation for crane
Foundation for two sounding winches

3.3. Deck equipment


3.3.1. Cranes

One marine crane type Triplex or similar on fore deck. Capacity 1,5t/8m
One hydraulic crane type HIAB or similar on trawl gallow, capacity 1,5t/8m, this crane shall be
possible to use also as lifting appliance when lifting parts from engine workshop or loading provision
onboard ship.

In engine room above main engine to be installed hoisting beam in full length. Capacity 1,5 t SWL.

3.3.2. Winches

Following high pressure hydraulic winches is to be installed:


Two split winches for trawl-wires situated in winch room on main deck. Towing force abt 22 tons.
Capacity of wire 20mm/1200m.Winches to be equipped with counters of wire length and tension
transducers.
Two net drums on aft shelter deck to be installed. Towing force abt 20 tons.
One auxiliary winch aft, towing force 1 ton.
Two auxiliary winches on trawl gallow, towing force 8 tons.
Two winches for net-sounder cable on trawl gallow.

3.4. Hydraulics

Hydraulic system with electrically driven hydraulic pumps to be installed. Pumps to be installed in
winch-room at main deck. Separate hydraulic system to be provided for fish-pump hydraulic system.
All hydraulic piping on exposed decks to be made of acid resistant pipes and connections. Hydraulic
piping for bow thruster to be arranged. 3 pcs of pump units with appr. 75 kW electrical motors and 1
pump unit with 25kW electrical motor. System pressure preferably not to exceed 250 bar.
Final design of hydraulic system and components to be carried out in close co-operation with buyer.

3.5. Freezing and cooling system for cargo

Vessel will be equipped with RSW-plant for cooling of sea water in fish tanks.
RSW system of Aquaterm or Teknoterm make and with following particulars:
Type: circulation system with NH3
Cooling capacity: 340 kW (290 000 kcal/h)
Compressor and condenser unit to placed in separate space according to requerements from national
authorities concerning NH3 installations.
Final design of system to be carried out in close co-operation with buyer.

3.6. Fish pumping equipment

One hydraulically driven fish pump of MMC make, or similar to b provided, size 14, including hose
reel for hydraulic hoses and storage facilities for pump and fish hose. Fish pump to have independent
hydraulic system. Necessary piping for transportation of fish to tanks as well as water separation
equipment to be installed.
One vacuum pump unit type MMC or similar with suitable capacity for disharging of all RSW tanks.
Vacuum unit and compressor to be installed on main deck.

4. Ship equipment

4.1. Manouvering machinery and Equipment

4.1.1. Rudder

Rudder with heel bearing will be built.

4.1.2. Steering gear

One electro-hydraulic steering gear of rotary vane type(Tenfjord SR 500) with two interswitchable
pump units.

4.1.3. Bow thruster

One hydraulically driven reversible bow thruster of 150kW to be installed, including manouvering
system to bridge.

4.1.4. Control panels

Bridge to be equipped with 3 pcs of control panels for controllng of pitch, ME-rpm, rudder and bow
thruster. One panel to be installed in connection with winch manouvering panel in aft part of bridge.

4.2. Radio Navigation and Nautical Equipment

4.2.1. Radars and integrated navigation systems

Two X-band black-box radars with one 8ft scanner unit and one 6ft scanner unit will be delivered
by buyer.
Integrated Chart plotting system will be delivered by buyer.

4.2.2. Positioning equipment

Sonar and two echosounders of integratable versions will be delivered.

4.2.3. Gyro-,satellite-,magnetic compasses and autopilot

Gyro or satellite compass as well as approved magnetic compass to be installed. Delivered by buyer.

4.2.4. Log echosounder and fish-finding equipment


One sonar delivered by buyer to be fitted in front part of engine room. Log echosounders and other
fish-finding equipment to be delivered by buyer.

4.2.5. Lanterns and searchlights

Vessel to be equipped with double lanterns with independent power supply.


One remote controlled searchligt to be installed in signal mast fore. One manually controlled
searchligt of same type installed on top of bridge. Preferably Seematz.

4.3. Radio station

Radio equipment fulfilling requirements for A2 sea areas will be delivered by buyer.

4.4. Anchoring and mooring equipment


Two anchors according to requirements from class and national authorities to be provided. No chain
lockers to be built. Anchor winches to be installed. One anchor to be installed in havspipe and
connected to ahchor winch ready for immediate use. Anchor chain to be minimized and replaced by
steel wire as far as possible according to class and national authorities. One anchor bolted to forecastle
deck as spare anchor.

5. Equipment for Crew

5.1. Life saving equipment

5.1.1. Inflatable life rafts

Two inflatable MED-approved SOLAS B-pack liferafts for 6 persons each, equipped with
hydrostatic release. One liferaft on stb side of wheelhouse one on port side.

5.1.2. Survival suits and life wests

Survial suits of MED-approved type for 6 persons. 6 pcs of life wests of MED-approved type with
lights.
Suitable stores for survival suits and life wests to be built according to regulations.

5.1.3. Other life-saving equipment

Other lifesaving equipment to be provided according to requirements from national authorities.

5.1.4. Portable fire equipment

Portable fire extinguishers as well as other portable fire fighting equipment to be installed according
to class and local authority requirements.

5.2. Furniture, inventory and recreation equipment

5.2.1. Accomodation, general

It is the intention of this specification to obtain a safe modern, comfortable accomodation of good
design, pleasing appearance and normal scandinavian standard. The interion shall be built for easy
maintenance and seaworthiness in every detail.
Accomodation layout to be based on a total complement of 7 persons, all cabins except skipper cabin
to prepared for two persons.
Cabin for skipper to have private shower and toilet.

One sauna to be arranged on main deck in connection with wash room. Further on main deck to be
situated, 3 pcs of two men cabins equipped with wardrobes and a seat, one toilet in connection with
cabin corridor. On main deck also to be fitted washroom, changing room, toilet to be used during
work and workshop spaces with direct access to engine room.
In changing or washing room to be installed washing machine and drying drum.
On shelter deck to be situated galley including dry-provision store, mess and day room, skipper cabin
and one toilet.
All materials used in accomodation spaces, including upholstery and furniture to be non-combustible
or low-flame spreading and approved by IACS-classification society.
All doors of approved type, Alvedoor, Parma Metals or Saajos.
Minimun free height in accomodation 2050mm.

5.2.2. Galley and equipment

Galley equipment to include necessary furniture, equipment and kitchen machinery for preparing and
serving food, cleaning and storage of dishes and kitchen tool and disposal of food waste.
The capacity shall be sufficient to provide the above service for the expected number of crew
onboard the ship.
All galley equipment shall satisfy international hygienic standard requirement and shall be intended
for ships were such models are available.
Following equipment to be fitted in galley:
Range and owen
Micro-wave owen
Dish-washing machine
Kitchen fan
Refrigerator
Freezer
Sink with hot and cold fresh water

5.2.3. Bridge

In wheel house will be fit up an instrument panel, a sofa with table and two skipper seats.
Final layout and surface materials as well as colours to be agreed on with buyer.
One small sink with hot and cold fresh water to be arranged on bridge.
Bridge to equipped wit at least 4 pcs of sliding windows of C C Jensen type.

7. Electrical System

7.1. General
All cables to be used shall be of Halogen-Free type, certified ship cables. Preferably Helkama.
Cables to be arranged in easily accesible manner in case of damage, and to be located as far as possible
away from spaces exposed to excessive heat, steam gas and moisture. Cabling shall be avoided in
spaces exposed to drip, accumulation of water or oil vapour.
Certified penetration-system to be used in areas where cables penetrate classified partitions.
Electromagnetic interference from other electrical systems to be eliminated.
Switchboards to be of self-supporting dead front, enclosed type.
All switcboard, electrical motors, starters and distribution boards preferably to be from one supplier.

7.2. Electrical Power Supply

3x400 V 50 Hz for generators, electrical motors, heaters and galley equipment as far as possible.
230V 50Hz for ligthting, sockets and smaller equipment through transformators.
Shore connection 3x400V/125A.
24 V DC for alarms, emergency lighting, navigation equipment etc, from batteries with constant
charging.
24 V DC for starting of engines with own batteries and charging.
Main switchboard to be situated in engine room or workshop according to available space.

7.3. Electrical consumers

Necessary lighting both for accomodation spaces as well as for deck spaces including working lights to
be installed. All apparatus installed on exposed decks to be of non-corrosive material.
Lighting equipment to be of approved type intended for use on board ships.
All electrical equipment installed in engine room or accomodation to be IP-44 protected and all
electrical equipment installed on exposed decks IP-56.

8. Heating, Ventilation Air-Conditioning

8.1. Heating

One hot-water boiler with oil burner to be installed. Accomodation spaces equipped with central-
heating radiators for heating of spaces. Water circulation for pre.heating of main engine to be provided.
Water battery to be installed in ventilation plant for pre-heating of incoming ventilation air. Heating
system for providing of hot air to windows on bridge to be installed.

8.2. Ventilation

Engine room ventilation according to class requirements and taking in account need for extra
ventilation after relkease of CO2 plant.
Accomodation spaces as well as bridge equipped with mechanical ventilation system.
Ventilation machinery room to be installed in service space under bridge.

8.3. Air-Conditioning

Accomodation spaces equipped with air-conditioning with capacity to cool down inner temperature to
20C at ambient temperature of 27C.

9. Ships systems

9.1. Ballast and bilge systems

Ship to be arranged with ballast water piping system which allowes moving water from one tank to
another as well as filling and discharging of ballast water to every single ballast tank.
One ballast pump which also can be used as bilge/fire pump will be installed in bow thruster room.
One additional bilge pump to be fitted in engine room. Bilge line to both bilge pumps to be fitted.
Piping of bilge line outside fuel oil tanks of galvanized steel pipes.
Pumps preferably of Desmi or Allweiler make.

9.2. Fire and emergency alarm systems, fire fighting systems

Fire alarm system to be installed with central panel on bridge. Fire alarm detectors in all cabins,
accomodation corridor, mess/dayroom, galley, engine room, winch room, steering gear room, thruster
room, fore peak store, workshop.

Fire and deck wash piping to be installed. One fire pump according to class requirements to be
installed. Fire main to deck to be fitted as well as fire hose connections according to class and national
authorities. Drain from fire main to be arranged to avoid freezing.
Deck wash piping to fitted with possibility to use hot water on deck for melting of ice on fishing
equipment.

A complete total flooding fire fighting system based on CO2 gas shall be installed for fire extinguishing
in the engine room. Space for CO2 bottles shall also be provided.

9.3. Air systems

All tanks to be equipped with air vents according to class requipements. Approved air pipe vents to be
mounted on top of air pipe.

10. Painting

10.1. Hull

Above waterline hull will be metalaized and painted with two coat 150 my type Intershield(or similar),
And one coat 40 my Interthane(or similar). Aluminium one coat 150 my and one coat 50 my
Interthane(or similar). The freshwater tanks and RSW tanks will be painted with 300 my Intergarde
100. The engine room with one coat 100 my Interprime and one coat Interlack 50 my.

10.2. Main deck over cargo hold

To be painted with one coat 150 my Intershield and one coat 50 my Intergard.
