Classroom Environment
When anyone comes into my
classroom, I want them to feel
welcomed and inspired to learn. This
will be achieved by having concrete
lesson objectives posted. The
bulletin board will reflect what unit
we are working on. The room should
be organized and free of clutter. The
students will know exactly what is
expected, where to turn in work, and
to follow classroom routines. By the
end of the year, students should be
able to have a broad knowledge of
the content, use it for critical
thinking, and apply it in practical
applications.
Students should be able to clearly
understand what is expected of them.
This will be achieved by writing the
lesson objectives on the board, in the
same spot, and using them as a
guide for each lesson and
assessment. Students should know
how they will be graded and how
much weight that grade carries. This
will be done by using a section of the
board for daily assignments and
allowing students to learn in a
nonthreatening environment. The
class rubric will be posted on the
board also.
Accommodations and modifications
will be used for to improve the
students understanding and to meet
the IEP for inclusion students.
Classroom organization is also crucial
for success. The classroom rules will
be posted and compliance is
expected from every student.
Students Will
Student/Teacher
Respect- show respect to the teacher and to
their classmates. This promotes a positive
classroom, reduces stress, increases student
learning, and ensures a safe classroom
environment where students are free to learn
and express themselves.
Rules-Students will know what the rules are and
will be expected to follow them. There will be
positive rewards for positive behaviors.
Good Communication-If the student is having
difficulty with the assignment, they should be
able to feel comfortable asking for help and
expect nonjudgmental answers.
Communicating should boost problem solving
and critical thinking skills while deflecting
frustration and anger.
Student/Student
Respect- Each other. Students understand that
each person is unique and different and that
everyone has strengths and weaknesses.
Resecting peers ensures safety and decreases
bullying.
Peer to Peer interactions- Students will be
expected to work together and learn from each
other. This allows students to share knowledge,
collaborate ideas, and to participate in think-
pair-share activities.
Peer Reviews-You will provide feedback to your
classmates by giving comments, comparisons,
and evaluations. Feedback from you peers is
easier to understand, provide more feedback
than the teacher might give, allows more points
of view, and improves student understanding.
Teacher Expectations of Self
My expectation for myself are:
To be well prepared for each lesson. Well
prepared lessons ensure good sequences to
learning, provides organization to lessons, and
prevents student frustration.
To know my students-Learning whos, hows,
and whys. Building a relationship with
students improves effective teaching by
improving coarse planning and scheduling of
content, helps students become responsible
for their own success.
To be positive. Positive attitudes are
contagious. Students that feel valued will be
more likely to follow rules, get their work done
and to be respectful.
Teacher/Student
Respect-show respect to students. Respect
helps the overall success of students by
shaping their beliefs in themselves, improving
their self-esteem, and allowing the student to
respect authority.
Technology- Will be used to enhance learning.
Technology allows students to use all learning
styles, provided unbiased and unemotional
feedback, and never gets frustrated. It also
improves teacher, student and parental
communications.
Engaging Lessons- Engaging students
increases their attention, their focus, provides
practice, and improves critical thinking skills.
This promotes successful lessons, improved
behaviors, and meets coarse objectives.
