Education

Stephen F. Austin High School Austin, TX

Member of the Academy for Global Studies (AGS) within Austin High School. A
distinguished academy with teachers who coordinate their course materials to create
an interdisciplinary learning experience as well as facilitating more group work and
projects than the typical high school classroom. AGS requires all students to take at
least 4 years of a language in order to help achieve the true goal of the academy: to
encourage students to become global citizens. Additionally, the Academy
encourages travel as a means of learning. Trips are taken throughout high school to
Arkansas, Costa Rica, New Mexico and China.

Kealing Middle School Austin, TX

Belonged to Kealing Middle Schools magnet program. Kealings magnet program is


known throughout the district for its advanced subject matter and wide array of
electives ranging from the Math of Games to the Harry Potter class. While Kealings
main focus is math and science, all disciplines are widely regarded. Furthermore,
many students use the study habits and knowledge they gained at Kealing to excel in
high school.

TGPLAN, a semester long group-project during sophomore year, stands for Think
Globally, Problem-solve Locally, Act Neighborly. It requires students to research a
global issue that affects Austin, interview a local expert on this issue, identify a
solution, take action in our own communities, and present all of these elements to
friends/ family/ community experts.
-researched the negative effects of invasive species
-discovered that eradicating invasive plants helps native plants reclaim their
habitat
-worked in the Barton Creek Greenbelt removing Nandina domestica, a local
invasive shrubbery
