Cox Cub News

Volume 6, Issue 19 Mrs. Tara Imboden, Principal imboden@interact.ccsd.net
April 3-7, 2017 Dr. Christine Clayman, Assistant Principal cclayman@interact.ccsd.net
Welcome Back Everyone! We hope you enjoyed your Spring Break!
Can you believe we only have 37 days of school left! Wow, this year flew by; summer is
just around the corner!

Reminder: Please do NOT turn left out of our parking lot during drop-off and dismissal. Also, not only is it dangerous
but its illegal to cross the street outside of the crosswalk on Robindale and we have seen CCSDPD citing people lately.

SBAC Testing: Next week our students begin the state exams! Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 take state exams in Language
Arts/Reading and Math (and fifth take the state Science exam). We will have full day quiet hours and our specialist schedules
have been adjusted to give our intermediate students the full morning to test. Due to the number of testing sessions and the
amount of classes which need to access our labs, testing will run through May 22 nd. Did you know that last year we had 6
students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who earned perfect scores??? Wow!

Scarlett Burton. The Milers Drawing Winners for April: Michael Steffen, Henry Aase, Brandon Frenzel, Owen Frenzel,
Henry Loorz, Zachary Christman, and Madeline Smith.

Our annual Milers Jog-a-thon is coming up on April 28th. Look for flyers coming home soon with all of the important
details. We need volunteers to make this event a success. Volunteer duties needed include: registration from 7:45-8:15am,
punch cards from 8-9am, water table from 8-9am, and finally we need people to help with the pledge sheets from 9-10am.
Please send an email to dmcmilersclub@gmail.com if you are willing to help. This year we will be doing a raffle drawing
every 5-10 minutes during the Jog-a-thon. If you are interested in providing some raffle prizes (gift cards, small toys, store
bought food items, etc.) please send an email to dmcmilersclub@gmail.com. We appreciate any support you can give our
program!

Just a reminder: Only those students participating in Milers are allowed on campus before 8:50 am. We have had many students hanging out on the
blacktop before the first bell. There is no supervision during this time, so they must be running or walking on the Milers field where they are supervised.
If students refuse to come to Milers after being reminded of this rule, they will be sent directly to the office. Thank you for your help in keeping our
students safe.

Proud of DMC Staff and Students: Based on our schools 2016 SBAC performance scores our school was rated a 4 for
teacher evaluation purposes. The numeric 4 is the highest you can earn and its based upon our ranking amongst not just
CCSDs overall performance but the state as well.

Annual DMC Parent Survey: Parents, each year we send home a survey regarding the operations and programs at our
school. Your input is very valuable to us and the responses are always posted in the newsletter and will now be shared at
upcoming SOT meetings. Questions like open/closed campus, times of PTA meetings, early-bird GATE classes are types of
questions on the survey. Please look for the survey at the end of April.

Staffing Update: As previously posted in past Newsletters, staffing and staffing within grade levels are always subject to
change (even right up to the first day of school). We will always accept parent letters for teacher requests beginning May 1st,
however, due to possible staffing changes, your request may not be granted. If your child is placed in a requested classroom
and that teacher leaves over the summer, you will NOT get your second choice; your child will be placed based on student
count. REQUESTS ARE NOT A GUARANTEED PLACEMENT. We do have some grade levels filled and staff for the
upcoming year:
